The UPCCA presents “Family Conversations I” and the “I School for Families”, two free initiatives aimed at parents, educators and the general public

The Torrevieja City Council, through its Community Prevention Unit for Addictive Behaviors (UPCCA), is launching two training programs for families and educators in the municipality: “Family Conversations I” and the “First School for Families.” Both initiatives aim to strengthen prevention, promote healthy habits, and offer practical tools for addressing current educational and digital challenges.

The Councillor for Public Health, Rosa Cañón, those responsible for the Community Prevention Unit for Addictive Behaviors (UPCCA), and Jesús Pernas, an expert in the care of minors and adults with disruptive digital and analog situations, who participated in the press conference by videoconference, presented these two training programs.

FAMILY CONVERSATIONS I
The "Family Conversations I" series will take place between March and June at the Palacio de la Música, with free admission until capacity is reached. This program is aimed at mothers, fathers, families, and educators, and seeks to create a space for dialogue and shared learning about some of the main challenges in the family sphere.

Over four sessions, specialists will address essential issues such as setting limits and rules, cybersecurity and parental controls, family communication and peer pressure, as well as preventing the use of vapes, tobacco, and snuff films. All talks will be held in the afternoon.

The schedule is as follows:

- “Limits and rules in the family” – March 11 at 7:30 p.m.
- “Cybersecurity and parental control” – April 20 at 6:30 p.m.
- “Communication in family, friendships and social pressure” – May 11 at 6:30 p.m.
- “Vapers, tobacco and snuff” – June 22 at 6:30 p.m.

FIRST SCHOOL FOR FAMILIES

The “First School for Families” will feature the participation of Jesús Pernas, a renowned expert in caring for children and adults in disruptive situations, both digital and analog, and a trainer in digital competence.

This proposal includes four sessions that will be held at the Virgen del Carmen Cultural Center (CCVC) and the Palace of Music, with free admission.

The scheduled talks are as follows:

MARCH:

- “Minors and the digital age” – March 13 at 6:30 p.m. at the CCVC
- “Between screens and values. How to be their digital reference” – March 14 at 10:30 a.m. at the CCVC

MAY:

- “Minors and the digital age” – May 22 at 6:30 p.m. at the Palace of Music
- “Between screens and values. How to be their digital reference” – May 23 at 10:30 a.m. at the Palace of Music.

COMMITMENT TO FAMILY EDUCATION

With these two programs, the Department of Health and the UPCCA (Unit for the Prevention and Control of Addictions) are reinforcing their commitment to prevention and family education, offering useful resources to improve coexistence and well-being at home. Both initiatives complement the activities that the UPCCA carries out throughout the year in the municipality's schools.
