The 6th Raúl Ferrández National Amateur Theatre Competition kicks off tomorrow, Friday.
From tomorrow, Friday, March 20th, until Tuesday the 24th, at 8:00 PM, at the Virgen del Carmen Cultural Center, with free admission until capacity is reached, the city of Torrevieja will once again come alive with amateur theater. The list of plays selected this year from a total of 52 proposals from 19 different provinces is as follows:
Friday 20
“Floresta” by Guillermo Yanícola, from the company ANTRIOS TEATRO of Elche, absurdist genre. Duration 70 min.
Saturday 21
“The Superhuman Lovers” by Ruth Gutierrez Alvarez from the company LA BESTIA TEATRO of Brañosera (Palencia), drama genre with a duration of 90 min.
Sunday 22
“The Phantom Lady” by P. Calderón de la Barca from the company LA NÓMADA TEATRO of Salamanca, comedy genre with a duration of 80 min.
Monday 23
“Room Service” by Benjamín López from the company LA GERANIO PRODUCE of Madrid, comedy genre with a duration of 90 min.
Tuesday 24
“The song of the absent” by José Antonio Navas Botrán from the GRUPO DE TEATRO DE SAN JAVIER company from San Javier (Murcia), drama genre with a duration of 100 min.
These five companies will compete for the four prizes awarded in the competition, which are:
-Award for best actress, trophy
-Best Actor Award, Trophy
-Special Audience Award “Maribel Vallejos”, trophy + €500
-Award for best work, trophy + €2000
The awards ceremony will take place on Friday, March 27, at the Municipal Theatre, at 8:00 p.m., where the World Theatre Day manifesto will also be read by the Emeritus Professor of Theatre Theory and Practice of the University of Murcia, César Oliva Olivares, followed by a performance of FARRA by the National Classical Theatre Company & Lucas Escobedo, winner of the 2025 MAX AWARD for best musical show, as the grand finale.
