The 31st International Youth Habanera Competition, organized by the Torrevieja Municipal Habanera Board, will be held on Saturday, April 18th, at 6:00 PM in the Municipal Theater, bringing together nearly 200 young singers from across Spain. This musical event has become a leading event in the youth choral scene, both nationally and internationally.
Since its inception in 1995, this event began as a complement to the prestigious International Habaneras and Polyphony Competition, evolving over the years into its own space for artistic expression, training, and musical excellence for young choirs. Today, three decades later, the youth competition represents the future of a tradition deeply rooted in the city's cultural identity.
Throughout its history, the Youth Competition has served as a launching pad for new choral groups, as well as acting as a true barometer of emerging musical quality. The participating choirs face a demanding competitive format that fosters artistic excellence and reinforces values such as teamwork, discipline, and cultural awareness.
The program includes a main day of competition, in which the selected groups will perform their repertoire before a specialized jury of recognized prestige.
THE HABANERA “QUEEN OF SALT”, REQUIRED WORK OF THE COMPETITION

The day will culminate with the jury's deliberation, the awards ceremony, and the official closing of the event.
The choirs selected by the Technical Committee for the 31st edition of the International Youth Habanera Competition are the following:
- CHOIR “A XUNQUEIRA”, PONTEVEDRA – GALICIA.
- COR “VIVALDI”, BARCELONA – CATALONIA.
- “ENTREOLIVOS” CHOIR, DOS HERMANAS, SEVILLE – ANDALUSIA.
- CHOIR OF THE OFFICIAL MUSIC CONSERVATORY “HERMANOS BERZOSA”, CÁCERES – EXTREMADURA.
- “SMALL VOICES OF THE ALHAMBRA”, GRANADA – ANDALUSIA.
The jury will be composed of:

- Enrique Martín
