TORREVIEJA SE CONSOLIDA COMO LA CIUDAD MÁS TRANSPARENTE DE LA COMUNIDAD VALENCIANA
Digital transformation and the promotion of the Transparency Portal have been key to positioning Torrevieja as a benchmark in Open Government, Citizen Participation, and Accountability. The City Council will continue to promote new innovation initiatives with the aim of improving public services, strengthening citizen participation, and keeping Torrevieja at the forefront of municipal transparency.

The Councillor for Innovation, Ricardo Recuero, reports that Torrevieja City Council has consolidated itself, once again, as the most transparent municipality in the Valencian Community, maintaining its regional leadership with a transparency index of 85.8%, according to the independent evaluation ranking DYNTRA (Dyntra City Councils and Municipalities).

This result confirms the strength of the municipal management model based on transparency, access to public information, and accountability, positioning Torrevieja as a leader in open government. Furthermore, the city has climbed to 22nd place nationally, a significant improvement compared to previous years when it ranked 167th in Spain.

Torrevieja's consolidation as the most transparent city in the Valencian Community is the result of a continuous strategy of administrative modernization, coordination between municipal departments, and a firm commitment to institutional transparency.

The DYNTRA index evaluates multiple areas related to public management and access to information, including: Citizen participation and collaboration, Economic and financial transparency, Public service contracting, Urban planning and public works, and Open Data and access to information.

DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION, THE KEY TO SUCCESS

One of the determining factors in this leadership has been the implementation and development of the Municipal Transparency Portal, which has improved accessibility to public information and adapted to current standards of open government and digital society.

In this regard, the Councillor for Innovation, Citizen Services and Transparency, Ricardo Recuero, highlighted that “the consolidation of Torrevieja as the most transparent municipality in the Valencian Community is a demonstration of the City Council's commitment to citizen participation, efficiency in public management and institutional transparency.”

The results obtained reflect a high degree of compliance in the main indicators evaluated, especially highlighting:

  • Information on the municipal organization and heritage: 100%
  • Accounting and budgetary information: 100%
  • Transparency in municipal income and expenditure: 100%
  • Service contracting procedures: 100%
  • Economic and financial transparency: 96.3%
  • Urban planning and public works: 95%

These data demonstrate the City Council's commitment to open, responsible and accessible management, which allows citizens to know clearly and in detail how the municipal administration works and how public resources are used.

COMMITMENT TO CITIZEN PARTICIPATION AND THE INFORMATION SOCIETY

The municipal policy on transparency is not limited to the publication of data, but seeks to promote the active participation of citizens in public life and improve communication between the administration and the residents.

The incorporation of digital tools, citizen service systems and participation channels has made it possible to strengthen interaction with civil society and move towards a closer, more modern and efficient public management model.

This strategy responds to the current challenges of the information society, in which transparency, access to data and accountability are essential elements to strengthen citizen trust in institutions.

With these results, the Torrevieja City Council reaffirms its commitment to the principles of good governance, transparency and institutional quality, consolidating itself as a benchmark model in the Valencian Community and throughout Spain.

The council will continue to promote new initiatives in administrative innovation and open government with the aim of improving public services, strengthening citizen participation and keeping Torrevieja at the forefront of municipal transparency.
