PROGRAMACIÓN CULTURA ABRIL-AGOSTO
Grand productions such as “Dulcinea” – with Paloma San Basilio – “Better Not Say It” – with Imanol Arias –, “A View from the Bridge” and “The Threepenny Opera”; in addition to the comedy of Juan Dávila, David Domínguez and Comandante Lara; the magic of The Invisible Magician; the concerts of Sidecars, Abraham Cupeiro and the ABBA tribute, and other varied shows with local talent, make up the program of the May-August 2026 season of Cultura Torrevieja.

The Councillor for Culture, Antonio Quesada, in collaboration with the Torrevieja Culture team, presented this morning the cultural program for May-August 2026, a wide and varied offering that includes concerts, theatre, comedy, magic, zarzuela and much more.

First, a review was conducted of the first four months of the year, which, including April's figures, show 67 scheduled events and, so far, around 29,000 attendees. The number of sold-out shows during these months is also noteworthy, as in March alone, 8 of the 14 scheduled shows sold out.

And after this rather busy start to the year, the cultural program for 2026 continues with great artists and performances, both at the Municipal Theatre and the International Auditorium of Torrevieja, again with more than 60 opening sessions scheduled until September 1st between the two.

May

The cultural program for the next four months begins with the highly anticipated return of Sidecars to Torrevieja, who will kick off their national tour in our city to present their new album, "Everest." The following day, renowned artist Abraham Cupeiro will present his show "Pangea," featuring music from around the world. This concert, previously performed with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of London at Abbey Road Studios, now comes to our city as a celebration of the cultural diversity of our planet.

The month will continue from the 7th to the 10th, with the May Fair, followed by another edition of the Gala of Europe and the following concerts: “El Gran Guateque” by Los Salerosos, “Un Conciertazo para Todos” by the Casanovas Orchestra, “Brahms” by the Torrevieja Symphony Orchestra and the UMT & Johan de Meij show.

Days later, the plays “Mitad y Mitad” will be presented, with David Fernández – the Chikilicuatre – and Carlos Chamarro (known for the Torrente saga); and “Mejor no decirlo” with Imanol Arias and María Barranco , the latter after its season in Buenos Aires and tour in Uruguay, Chile and Paraguay with an absolute sell-out.

The month will end with the monologue “The Weird One of the 90s” by David Domínguez , followed by the National Performing Arts Competition and the magic show “Nothing Is What It Seems” by The Invisible Magician , which includes teleportations, disappearances, mentalism and illusions with objects from the audience.

For the little ones, we will have the closing of the Theatre for all cycle with the play "Yo, tarzán" and during May and June we will also have two new proposals of theatre in the street "Sal pa'fuera", with LLAR from the Federico Menini company and the one entitled NON CRASS, respectively.

June

It will begin with the acclaimed play "A View from the Bridge," a tragedy that explores the emotional and social tensions in an Italian-American community in Brooklyn during the 1950s and features a stellar cast, including María Adánez and José Luis García Pérez . This will be followed by "Essencial," an ABBA tribute that will revive the Swedish group's greatest hits.

A few days later, Commander Lara – accompanied by Vicente Ruidos and Jesús Tapia – will present the comedy “Travel with Us”; followed by the zarzuela “Marina” by the Alicante Lyric Company and the first Candlelight concert of the season.

The month continues with three completely sold-out performances of Juan Dávila 's monologue "The Palace of Sin ," and the irreverent play "The Lovers," starring Kiko Hernández . A few days later, "The Threepenny Opera," starring Coque Malla , will be presented , a play about money, power, and morality.

June will end with a new edition of the Copla Festival, entitled “Inmensos” and paying tribute to Raphael and Rocío Jurado, and the dance shows “Discovering Neverland” by the Mery Academy, the 40th Anniversary of the Elena Ruso Academy, as well as the show “7 Temptations” by the Angela Esteban Academy, among others.

In addition to all this, we must include all the festivals of the local academies and municipal schools, such as the one that the School of Painting will present together with the School of Dance, with the work entitled "The journey of color".

July is packed with local talent, including concerts by the “Francisco Casanovas” Flute Orchestra, the “Mario Bustillo” Torrevieja Choir, and the 31st Night of Habaneras on the Beach, featuring the Ukrainian female choir UAnima and the group La Trova del Llano from Albacete.

We will also have children's theatre presented by La Cueva de Melpómene, with the play "I caught you, Little Red Riding Hood".

With humor, pain and irony, Paloma San Basilio will star in the play "Dulcinea" and, later on, we will have the XXIV International Festival of Music Bands City of Torrevieja and the VI National Festival of Youth Bands , an event that will feature the participation of the Redován Musical Union, the Loureiro Music Band (Portugal), the Maestro Ibáñez Musical Group of Valdepeñas and the youth bands of the Torrevieja City Musical Society and the Redován Musical Union, among others.

But as every year, the biggest event in July will be the 72nd International Habanera and Polyphony Competition , from July 19 to 25, where choirs from around the world will perform the most emblematic habaneras. The opening gala will feature Ainhoa Arteta , one of the most renowned sopranos in the world of opera.
