The Critical Cinema series, organized by the UNED Torrevieja Classroom, has scheduled the film Captain Phillips for April 28th. At 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Virgen del Carmen Cultural Center, the coordinator of UNED Torrevieja, Jesucristo Riquelme, will present the film directed by Paul Greengrass in 2013. Following the screening, he will moderate the customary discussion with the audience.

With this proposal, we once again have on screen, as happened in January with The Post , a prominent Tom Hanks who, on this occasion, captains a cargo ship in international waters.

The story, based on a true event that took place in April 2009, offers a reflection on courage and leadership in times of crisis. When the Maersk Alabama was boarded and held by Somali pirates, it became the first American ship hijacked in two hundred years. Another profound human theme explored is that poverty can be an enemy of peace and civilized life.

Entry is free until capacity is reached.
