Torrevieja faces the 2026/2027 School Admission process with record numbers and great educational pressure

The Education Councillor of Torrevieja City Council, Ricardo Recuero, has announced the start of the School Admission Campaign for the 2026/2027 school year, aimed at families who must enroll their sons and daughters in the stages of Early Childhood Education, Primary Education, Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO) and Baccalaureate.

This process, fundamental for the educational planning of the next school year, is taking place in a context of unprecedented demographic and school growth in the city, which makes this campaign especially relevant for both families and the public administrations involved.

With the aim of facilitating all procedures, the City Council has prepared a detailed information guide that clearly outlines how the process works, the official calendar, the scoring criteria and all the information necessary to ensure the correct submission of applications.

The procedure will be carried out entirely online through the official platform of the Valencian Government, allowing families to manage their applications in an agile, transparent and accessible manner.

DETAILED ADMISSION PROCESS CALENDAR

In the regular phase of Infant and Primary education:

• May 7 : Publication of available vacancies.
• From May 7 to 18 : submission of applications.
• June 4 : Publication of provisional lists (claims until June 8).
• June 18 : final lists.
• From June 18 to 29 : online registration (in-person registration until July 2).

For Compulsory Secondary Education and Baccalaureate:

• From May 21 to June 1 (until 3:00 p.m.) : submission of applications.
• June 15 : Provisional results for ESO (Compulsory Secondary Education)
• July 1st : Provisional Baccalaureate results
• July 2nd : Final ESO results
• July 9th : Final Baccalaureate results
• From July 2nd to 7th : online registration for ESO (Compulsory Secondary Education)
• From July 9th to 14th : Online registration for Baccalaureate

Extraordinary phase:

• Infant and Primary School: from July 13th to 16th
• ESO: from July 17 to 20
• High school: July 23-27

Confirmation of place in affiliated centers: from March 9 to 23.

AN EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM UNDER STRONG DEMOGRAPHIC PRESSURE

The Councillor for Education, Ricardo Recuero, emphasized that this year's admissions process clearly reflects Torrevieja's demographic evolution: “In 2019, we had 10,597 students enrolled in the municipality, and today, in 2026, we have already surpassed 17,000 students. We are talking about more than 6,000 new students in just seven years, an absolutely exceptional figure,” he pointed out.

Recuero added that “this growth is not only quantitative, but also continuous and sustained over time, which puts constant pressure on the local education system.” In this regard, he emphasized that “in the 2024/2025 academic year alone, more than 2,000 additional students enrolled, a very significant increase that requires ongoing adaptation of educational planning.”

PLANNING, COORDINATION AND RESOURCE CLAIM

The Education Councillor explained that the City Council is working in coordination with the regional government to address this situation, stating that “we are facing a historic challenge that requires planning, anticipation, and institutional commitment. Torrevieja is one of the municipalities with the highest student growth in the entire Valencian Community, and this requires a corresponding response.”

GUARANTEES, TRANSPARENCY AND SUPPORT FOR FAMILIES

The Education Councillor reminded everyone that the admissions process is governed by objective and transparent criteria, such as proximity of residence, the presence of siblings already enrolled at the school, family income, or other duly documented specific circumstances. He also urged families to “review all documentation in advance and respect the established deadlines, as it is a highly structured procedure with fixed dates.”

The Torrevieja City Council provides citizens with up-to-date information, advice and support throughout the process, in coordination with the municipality's educational centers.

Finally, Ricardo Recuero reiterated that “education is a priority for this government team and we will continue working to ensure that all students have access to a quality education under appropriate conditions.”
