Torrevieja will retain its six Blue Flag beaches in 2026, consolidating its tourism excellence.
The Torrevieja City Council has renewed the six blue flags for its beaches this year 2026, thus consolidating once again the excellence of its coastline and its position as one of the most important tourist destinations in the Valencian Community and the entire Mediterranean arc.
Thus, the beaches of Cala Piteras, Los Náufragos, El Cura, Los Locos, Cabo Cervera and La Mata-Sur will once again display this summer the international distinction that recognizes the quality of the water, safety, accessibility, provision of services and environmental management, as has been happening in previous years.
This new recognition comes in a context of sustained growth for the city, which already has over 110,000 registered inhabitants and which, during the summer season, multiplies its population with the arrival of hundreds of thousands of visitors, which requires constant planning and continuous improvement of public services, especially on the waterfront.
The mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, has expressed his satisfaction at retaining these important distinctions, noting that “maintaining the six blue flags is not a coincidence, but the result of serious planning, constant investment and efficient management of our beaches 365 days a year.”
Dolón emphasized that “Torrevieja has experienced significant growth in recent years, both in population and tourist arrivals, which compels us to redouble our efforts to maintain increasingly demanding quality standards. These Blue Flags are the best calling card for our city.”
The mayor also stressed that “our goal is to continue moving towards a sustainable, accessible and high-quality tourism model, in which our beaches continue to be a benchmark not only at the provincial level, but also nationally.”
The City Council reminds everyone that the Blue Flags are awarded by the Association for Environmental Education and Consumer Protection (ADEAC) and that they assess strict criteria such as excellent water quality, user safety, universal accessibility, cleanliness, lifeguard and rescue services, as well as the development of environmental education programs.
In this sense, the maintenance of these six distinctions highlights the work carried out by the Department of Beaches in coordination with the various municipal services, as well as the investments aimed at modernizing infrastructure, improving equipment, reinforcing surveillance and expanding adapted services.
Finally, it is worth noting that the Torrevieja City Council continues to develop its city strategy focused on tourism excellence, in which the care of the natural environment, the quality of services and innovation in the management of the coastline become fundamental pillars to continue attracting visitors and generating economic opportunities for the municipality.
