Gitte Lund, the Councillor for International Residents of Torrevieja City Council, announces that Norway's National Day will be celebrated next Sunday, May 17th, with the traditional parade, which will begin at 11:00 a.m. on the Juan Aparicio seafront promenade (at the Man of the Sea monument). From there, hundreds of Norwegian residents of Torrevieja and other Norwegian communities in the Vega Baja region will walk along the Juan Aparicio seafront promenade to Playa del Cura beach. At 12:00 p.m., official speeches and a performance by the Norwegian School Choir will take place in the natural pools along the promenade.

Norway celebrates its National Day every year on May 17th, marking the anniversary of the proclamation of its Constitution in 1814. Although full independence was not achieved until 1905, this date has remained as Norway's National Day and is always a public holiday.
