In June, the children's workshops "Dismantling Stereotypes" will be held in the schools of the municipality.
The Department of Equality of the Torrevieja City Council, led by Inmaculada Montesinos, will launch the children's workshop "Dismantling Stereotypes", an educational initiative that will take place during the month of June in different schools in the municipality, as well as in the Concilia Summer School 2026.
The main objective of this program is to foster a free and egalitarian worldview among young children, challenging traditional gender roles and stereotypes associated with boys and girls. Through child-friendly activities, the program aims to help children understand that they can develop their interests, skills, and abilities without limitations imposed by societal labels.
The workshops will be held at the CEIP Inmaculada, CEIP Las Culturas, CEIP Amanecer and CEIP Romualdo Ballester schools, also extending their reach to the participants of the Concilia Summer School 2026, thus reinforcing the municipal commitment to values education from an early age.
The Department of Equality emphasizes that this initiative seeks to "challenge the preconceived idea that there are things for boys or things for girls," promoting respect, diversity, and the free development of personality in childhood, key elements for building a fairer and more equal society.
The activity is part of the grant awarded by the Alicante Provincial Council for programs and activities for equal opportunities and the prevention of gender violence, corresponding to the year 2026, which allows for strengthening and expanding municipal actions in matters of equality.
With this initiative, the Torrevieja City Council is placing equality where it is truly built: in education and the early stages of life. Acting from childhood is not only a pedagogical approach, but a strategic decision to raise freer generations, with critical thinking skills and without the barriers imposed by stereotypes.
