More than 100 workers, 87 pieces of specialized machinery, and a fleet of 74 vehicles ensure the daily maintenance of green spaces. The commitment to sustainability, with electric machinery and low-impact systems, defines the service's management model. The Councilor for Parks and Gardens, Concha Sala, has announced the creation of several work teams that will be distributed across all areas and has also announced the start of a series of renovations in existing areas such as the Parque de las Naciones (Park of Nations).

The Parks and Gardens Department of Torrevieja City Council has officially presented the municipal service for the maintenance and conservation of green areas, in an event that has allowed the real magnitude of the operation in charge of caring for and improving the green spaces of the city to be shown.

The event was attended by the Councillor for Parks and Gardens, Concha Sala, along with representatives from the concessionary company Actúa Servicios y Medioambiente SL (Grupo Hozono Global), as well as technicians, service managers and all the workers who are part of the operation.

Although the contract has been in operation for a year now, this presentation aimed to directly convey to the public the scale, capacity and organization of the service.

A LARGE-SCALE SERVICE

Currently, the Parks and Gardens service operates on a total of 363 green areas distributed throughout the municipality, covering an area of more than 3.40 million square meters, which makes it one of the largest green area maintenance contracts in the province.

To this end, there is a staff of more than 100 workers, including operators, officers, specialized technicians, supervisors and coordination personnel, who carry out daily tasks of conservation, cleaning, pruning, clearing, tree maintenance, irrigation system inspection and landscape improvement in different parts of the city.

The operation has 87 pieces of specialized machinery, including professional lawnmowers, brushcutters, chainsaws, blowers, high-reach pruning equipment, plant shredding machinery and specific treatment systems.

Among the most relevant equipment are mulching and zero-turn lawnmowers, battery-powered brushcutters, high-reach pruning kits, wood chippers and high-capacity sprayers, which allow us to tackle both ordinary maintenance work and more complex tasks.

A MODERN FLEET ADAPTED TO THE ENTIRE MUNICIPALITY

The service also has a fleet of 74 vehicles , designed to meet the needs of all neighborhoods and residential areas in Torrevieja. These include electric vehicles, light trucks, self-loading trucks, aerial work platforms up to 25 meters high for pruning, intervention vans, and electric motorcycles, as well as trailers and support vehicles.

One of the most noteworthy aspects is the strong commitment to sustainability. The service incorporates state-of-the-art electric machinery and battery systems that reduce emissions, minimize noise, and improve energy efficiency.

This modernization makes it possible to carry out most of the work with less noise, especially in residential areas and spaces with high pedestrian traffic, thus contributing to a more environmentally friendly city model.

The service also maintains daily monitoring of its activity through social networks, where citizens can learn about the actions carried out in real time, including before and after images of the interventions in different parts of the municipality.

The Councillor for Parks and Gardens highlighted the significant increase in both human and mechanical resources to continue the transformation of green spaces throughout the municipality, a process that has already begun to materialize. She also announced the creation of several working groups that will be deployed across all areas and the start of a series of renovations in existing green spaces such as the Parque de las Naciones (Park of Nations). In this regard, she stated that "we are not only seeking aesthetic improvements but also the well-being of citizens through the enhancement of the city's green spaces."

The company's technical director, Daniel Puchol, stated that all the resources gathered today to present to the entire city translate "into the development of work that falls within the execution of a very demanding service."

For his part, the head of the Torrevieja contract, Manuel Iván Pérez, detailed the technical resources that have been presented, emphasizing sustainability and respect for the environment with the incorporation of 28 electric vans, a fleet of LPG vehicles, 14 small Piaggio vehicles, two platforms up to 25 meters high, a 28-ton capacity grapple truck, electric motorcycles and all kinds of equipment for mowing, raising, garden shaping, etc.

COMMITMENT TO QUALITY OF LIFE

With this presentation, the Torrevieja City Council highlights an essential service that directly contributes to the improvement of the urban environment, sustainability and the quality of life of residents and visitors.

The City Council and the concessionary company have highlighted their commitment to the maintenance and continuous improvement of all green spaces, from large parks and avenues to small garden areas in neighborhoods and urbanizations, consolidating a modern, efficient management model that is close to the needs of the city.
