The grants are aimed at local sports associations and federations that organize official competitions in the city. The Councillor for Sports, Diana Box, indicates that this initiative seeks to strengthen the "Torrevieja, Sports City" brand and promote sports tourism as an economic driver for the municipality.

The Torrevieja City Council, through the Department of Sports headed by Diana Box Alonso, has published the call for subsidies for carrying out sporting events and activities during the 2026 financial year, an initiative that has a maximum economic endowment of 35,000 euros and whose objective is to continue strengthening the practice of sports, promote healthy lifestyle habits and consolidate the position of the city as one of the main sporting destinations in the Valencian Community and Spain.

The call for proposals, the summary of which was published today in the Official Gazette of the Province of Alicante (BOP), is aimed at non-profit associations and entities, as well as sports federations that organize official competitions in the municipality, contributing to boosting local sports activity and generating a significant economic and tourist return for the city.

SUPPORT FOR LOCAL SPORTS SECTOR

These grants are available to non-profit associations and entities with their registered office in Torrevieja, registered in the Municipal Register of Neighborhood Associations, and which carry out sports activities in the municipality. Regional or national sports federations that organize official championships in the city are also eligible.

Non-profit entities may submit up to two different applications, provided they correspond to different events, which will be assessed independently according to the criteria established in the regulatory framework.

The application period will remain open for fifteen business days, from June 10 to July 1, 2026, inclusive. Applications must be submitted exclusively online through the Torrevieja City Council's Electronic Office.

The Department of Sports encourages clubs, associations and organizing entities to submit initiatives that contribute to enriching the local sports calendar and continue projecting the image of Torrevieja as an active, healthy city prepared to host top-level sporting events.

The Councillor for Sports, Diana Box, has reiterated that the City Council maintains a strong commitment to sport as a strategic element for the development of the city, promoting initiatives that encourage both sports practice among residents and the arrival of visitors attracted by competitions and important events.

CONSOLIDATING THE BRAND “TORREVIEJA, SPORTS CITY”

The call for grants is part of the municipal strategy to promote sport and sports tourism, a sector that continues to grow in Torrevieja thanks to the holding of events, championships and activities that attract thousands of athletes and companions every year.

With this new line of aid, the City Council reaffirms its commitment to the sports association network and to those initiatives capable of generating activity, participation and external projection, contributing to continue building a more active, healthy and recognized city within the national sports scene.
