On June 26, the Palace of Music will host the 1st Conference on Addiction Prevention with leading national experts

The conference, organized by the Community Prevention Unit for Addictive Behaviors (UPCCA) of the Department of Public Health, will address the main current challenges in the field of addictions.

Renowned experts will analyze health misinformation, the impact of alcohol on adolescents, and addiction to new technologies at this free event open to professionals, associations, the educational community, the healthcare sector, and interested citizens.

The Department of Public Health of the Torrevieja City Council, through the Community Prevention Unit for Addictive Behaviors (UPCCA), has organized the 1st Day of Prevention in Addictions, a training and awareness meeting that will bring together leading specialists to address some of the most relevant and current problems related to addictive behaviors.

The event will take place next Friday, June 26, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Torrevieja Music Palace, with free admission for all interested parties. It is aimed particularly at healthcare and social service professionals, organizations and associations, the educational community, and any citizen interested in promoting healthy habits and preventing addictions.

The First Conference on Addiction Prevention was created with the aim of becoming a space for meeting, exchanging knowledge and reflecting on the challenges currently posed by different forms of addiction, both those related to substances and those linked to new digital environments.

The UPCCA emphasizes the importance of promoting training and outreach activities that improve the capacity to prevent, detect and act on risky behaviors, especially among the younger population.

NATIONAL REFERENCE SPEAKERS

The program will feature three renowned professionals who are leaders in their respective fields, and who will offer presentations focused on current issues.

Journalist, editor and writer Mireia Pascual will open the day with the conference “Communication in health and addictions and the risks of misinformation”, in which she will analyze the role of the media and social networks in the construction of messages related to health and prevention.

Subsequently, the physician, scientist, professor at the Miguel Hernández University and researcher Salvador Martínez will offer the presentation “Brain function and alcohol consumption in adolescents: realities, myths and legends”, focused on the effects that alcohol consumption can cause on brain development during adolescence.

The day will conclude with a presentation by psychologist and expert in addiction to new technologies Marc Masip , who will give the lecture "The Heroine of the 21st Century," a reflection on digital dependence and the impact that the abusive use of mobile devices and social networks is having on today's society.

The First Conference on Addiction Prevention aims to lay the foundations for a permanent space for awareness and learning that will contribute to creating a more informed, critical and prepared society to face the challenges posed by addictions in the 21st century, focusing especially on prevention as a fundamental tool to protect the health and well-being of future generations.
