Torrevieja pays tribute to the student from La Purísima who achieved the best score in the 2026 EBAU exam in the entire Valencian Community

Mayor Eduardo Dolón emphasizes that “Ricardo is an example of effort, perseverance and excellence for all young people in Torrevieja

The mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, accompanied by the Councilor for Education, Ricardo Recuero, received Ricardo Regalado Ferrández, a student at La Purísima School, this morning in the City Hall's Plenary Hall. Regalado achieved the highest score in the 2016 University Access Assessment (EBAU) in the entire Valencian Community, reaching an extraordinary score of 13.92 out of 14. Next year, Regalado will begin studying Medicine at the San Juan Campus of the Miguel Hernández University (UMH) in Alicante, in honor of his late father, a doctor who also studied in Alicante.

During the ceremony, the mayor and the councilor for Education wanted to personally congratulate the student from Torrevieja for an academic achievement that places Torrevieja at the top of the regional educational scene and is a source of pride for the entire city.

A ROLE MODEL FOR THE YOUTH OF TORREVEJO

Eduardo Dolón emphasized that Ricardo's success "is the result of many years of work, sacrifice and dedication, but also of the support of his family, his teachers and the excellent work done by the educational centers in our city."

The mayor also noted that “Ricardo embodies the values of hard work, responsibility, and personal growth. He is a role model for the young people of Torrevieja and an example that with hard work and perseverance, even the most ambitious goals can be achieved.”

Dolón also stated that “today we recognize not only an exceptional grade, but a brilliant academic career that demonstrates the enormous talent we have in our city.”

Ricardo Regalado expressed his gratitude for the recognition he received from the Torrevieja City Council and said he was very happy with the result, adding that he never imagined achieving the highest score in the entire Valencian Community. "I knew I had done very well, but when I found out the score, I was overjoyed," he stated.

The student from Torrevieja wanted to share this success with his family, classmates, and teachers. “This result also belongs to everyone who has supported me over the years. I've been lucky to have great classmates and teachers at La Purísima school, and a family that has always been there for me.”

Ricardo also encouraged students who will be taking the university entrance exams in the coming years to have faith in their daily work. “The most important thing is to be consistent, well-organized, and calm. Effort will eventually pay off.”
