The Torrevieja City Council, through the Department of Public Lighting, has carried out an important project to renew and improve the public lighting network in various parts of the municipality, with a total investment of 177,739.53 euros (VAT included).

This action is part of the municipal strategy to modernize urban infrastructure and has allowed for the expansion of lighting coverage in different areas of the city, optimization of energy consumption and increased safety for pedestrians and drivers.

MORE LIGHTING AND GREATER SECURITY IN PUBLIC SPACES

The works have been carried out on the streets Eugenio Segarra Torregrosa, Gardenias, the green area of Patricio Pérez street, Travesía Frasquito, the roundabout of Avenida Rosa Mazón Valero, Plaza Islas Canarias and the area around the CV-905 towards Orihuela street.

Key actions include the expansion of existing lighting circuits to improve light coverage on several roads, as well as the installation of new light points in areas that previously lacked lighting, such as the Travesía Frasquito.

In addition, lighting has been reinforced in areas with high pedestrian traffic by installing new poles and lights in the Rosa Mazón Valero Avenue roundabout and in the Islas Canarias Square, improving the visibility and safety of these public spaces.

One of the most prominent areas of the project has been the area around the CV-905 and Orihuela Street, where a new control panel for the management of the lighting has been installed, luminaires equipped with pedestrian proximity sensors have been incorporated and projectors have been replaced in several roundabouts.

These improvements allow us to move towards a more efficient, sustainable and intelligent lighting model, adapting the light intensity to the real needs of use and reducing energy consumption.

A CONTRACT THAT WILL SAVE MONEY FOR THE MUNICIPAL TREASURY

The Councillor for Public Lighting, Concha Sala, highlighted that the project was carried out through a simplified open procedure and awarded for an amount of 177,739.53 euros, which represents a decrease of 20.12% compared to the base budget for the tender.

The winning company, Sociedad Ibérica de Construcciones Eléctricas SA, has also incorporated important improvements to its offer, including the extension of the warranty period to six years and the installation of 46 point-to-point remote management modules with software compatible with the municipal lighting control system.
