The Parks and Gardens Department of Torrevieja City Council continues to advance in its plan for the conservation and improvement of the municipality's green spaces with a new comprehensive action developed in the Plaza de la Agricultura in La Mata, one of the most emblematic and frequented places in this district of Torrevieja.

The work carried out has brought this public space up to standard through various maintenance and improvement projects aimed at enhancing its appearance, functionality, and state of repair. Key tasks included the inspection and improvement of the irrigation system, a thorough cleaning of the entire plaza, hedge trimming, pruning of ornamental vegetation, and the refurbishment of various urban elements within the area.

The Plaza de la Agricultura is one of the main meeting points in La Mata. Its location, in a central area close to shops, services, and residential areas, makes it a space frequently used daily by residents and visitors as a place to rest, stroll, socialize, and enjoy the outdoors.

Besides its importance as a public space, the square holds significant symbolic value for local history. Its name pays homage to agricultural activity, one of the fundamental pillars upon which La Mata and much of the Torrevieja municipality historically developed.

IMPROVEMENT OF THE IRRIGATION SYSTEM AND CONSERVATION OF VEGETATION

The work carried out has optimized the irrigation system, promoting more efficient water use and ensuring better maintenance of the existing plant species. At the same time, pruning, cleaning, and maintenance have improved the overall condition of the ornamental vegetation and reinforced the conservation of this green space.

This intervention results in a more well-maintained, functional, safe and pleasant square for the daily use of all citizens, reinforcing the environmental and landscape quality of one of the most representative enclaves of La Mata.

The Parks and Gardens Department emphasizes that this project is part of a municipal strategy for the progressive improvement of Torrevieja's parks, gardens, and green spaces. Alongside the regular maintenance work carried out throughout the municipality, the department continues to plan specific projects to visibly and lastingly transform each of these public spaces.

The goal is for these improvements to gradually reach all neighborhoods and areas of the municipality, reinforcing the City Council's commitment to a greener, more cared for and accessible Torrevieja, where public spaces continue to be places of meeting, coexistence and well-being for all residents.
