EL PLENO APRUEBA INICIALMENTE LA ORDENANZA QUE REGULARÁ LAS TARIFAS DEL NUEVO TRANSPORTE PÚBLICO URBANO DE TORREVIEJA
The new service includes single tickets, multi-trip passes, monthly flat rates, a tourist card, and a free Gold Pass for those over 65, pensioners, and people with disabilities who meet the established requirements. The new public transport model will represent a significant leap in quality with more lines, greater territorial coverage, a modern and sustainable fleet, and a service designed to respond to the city's growth.

The Torrevieja City Council has initially approved the Ordinance Regulating the Non-Tax Public Asset Contribution for the prices of the new urban public transport service, an essential step for the implementation of the new mobility model that will completely transform the city's collective transport, with votes in favor from PP and VOX and abstentions from PSOE and Sueña Torrevieja.

The approval of this ordinance will allow the regulation of the rates that users of the new municipal bus service will pay, which will be provided through an administrative concession and will represent a historic improvement both in the quality of the service and in the coverage of the municipality.

The new public transport system has been designed to respond to the significant population growth experienced by Torrevieja in recent years, offering a modern, accessible, efficient and sustainable network, with new lines, increased frequency of service, hybrid and electric vehicles, real-time information and a significant improvement in connections between the town center, residential areas, La Mata, hospitals, educational centers, shopping areas and main points of interest in the municipality.

The initial approval of this ordinance constitutes one of the last administrative steps for the entry into operation of the new urban transport service, one of the strategic projects promoted by the Torrevieja City Council to modernize municipal mobility.

The new contract includes a significant expansion of the transport network, increasing the number of lines, service frequency, and territorial coverage, thus enabling more efficient connections between neighborhoods, residential areas, and key public facilities. Furthermore, the new fleet will consist primarily of hybrid and electric buses, improving environmental sustainability and reducing emissions.

Following this initial approval by the Plenary, the ordinance will continue its administrative processing through the corresponding public information period before its final approval and subsequent entry into force, at which time the new rates will be applied with the implementation of the new urban transport service.
