Torrevieja City Council puts out to tender the project for safe school routes for the CEIP Acequión and Inmaculada schools, financed with ERDF funds
The Local Governing Board of the Torrevieja City Council has approved this morning the specifications that will serve as the basis for the tender for the contract for drafting the project and technical direction of the future safe school routes of the CEIP Acequión and Inmaculada, an action included in the Integrated Action Plan (PAI) of the Local Integrated Development Strategy (EDIL) of Torrevieja and co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), within the Multiregional Operational Program of Spain ERDF 2021-2027.
The contract is being put out to tender with a base budget of €67,425.96 (VAT included) and comprises two distinct phases. The first phase involves drafting the Basic and Detailed Design Project, along with all the necessary technical documentation, including the Health and Safety Study, the Waste Management Study, the Quality Control Plan, the work schedule, and the technical annexes that will define the project. The second phase includes the project management, encompassing site supervision, installation management, construction management, health and safety coordination, quality control, and waste management control.
The planned timeframe for drafting the project is two and a half months, after which the works that will make these new safe routes for schoolchildren a reality can be put out to tender.
A NETWORK OF SCHOOL ROUTES TO PROMOTE SAFER AND MORE SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY
The aim of this action is to create a network of safe school routes that facilitates students' journeys on foot and by bicycle to educational centers, improving road safety, accessibility and sustainable mobility.
In the case of CEIP Acequión, the new route will connect the school with the pedestrian and cycling path that links La Veleta with the San Roque and Acequión neighborhoods, an infrastructure also funded through the Integrated Action Plan. The project also includes improvements to the area surrounding CEIP Inmaculada, enhancing the safety of access points and creating more comfortable, accessible, and safe routes for students and their families.
A PROJECT ALIGNED WITH THE EUROPEAN STRATEGY FOR SUSTAINABLE URBAN DEVELOPMENT
The action is part of Operation P4-O9 of the Torrevieja Integrated Action Plan and is framed within the Local Integrated Development Strategy (EDIL), contributing to the fulfillment of the European Union's Political Objective 5: "A Europe closer to its citizens", whose purpose is to promote a more integrated, sustainable urban development focused on improving the quality of life of citizens.
Furthermore, the project has been classified within Action Type TA3: Social Inclusion, by promoting social and territorial cohesion through the creation of safe school routes that improve accessibility, active mobility and the safety of the urban environment, also complying with European standards on universal accessibility, environmental sustainability and equal treatment.
With this new tender, the Torrevieja City Council continues to advance in the transformation of the city through projects that promote safer, healthier and more sustainable mobility, while also promoting actions financed with European funds aimed at improving public space and the quality of life of residents.
