Torrevieja Á Punt strengthens its collaboration to project the International Habaneras and Polyphony Competition to the world
The mayor of Torrevieja and president of the Municipal Board of Trustees of the International Habaneras and Polyphony Competition, Eduardo Dolón, and the president of the Audiovisual Corporation of the Valencian Community (CACVSA), Román Ceballos, have signed a collaboration agreement this morning that will allow the Valencian public television, À Punt, to broadcast the final gala of the 72nd International Habaneras and Polyphony Competition of Torrevieja, thus reinforcing the promotion and dissemination of one of the most important cultural events in the Valencian Community.
Thanks to this agreement, À Punt will broadcast the closing gala of the competition, held at the Torrevieja Municipal Theatre, where the winning choirs of this year's edition will be announced. The broadcast will air on a delayed basis on the evening of Sunday, July 26, after the broadcast of the Christian Parade in Vila Joiosa has concluded.
The final gala will bring together on stage the choirs selected by the jury for a final performance, after which the jury's decision will be announced and the awards ceremony will take place. The event will conclude with the traditional group singing of the required piece, which this year will be "Habanera de sal," with lyrics by Belén Puente and music by Antoni Mas, a composition that will provide a fitting finale to a week dedicated to choral music.
The 72nd International Habanera and Polyphony Competition will be held in Torrevieja from July 19th to 25th, once again establishing the city as an international hub for choral music, with the participation of more than 700 singers from 13 countries across four continents. The opening gala will take place on Sunday, July 19th, and will feature performances by the Torrevieja Musical Union and the Symphony Choir of the Municipal Choral School, who will perform the official anthems before the renowned soprano Ainhoa Arteta, one of the great voices of international opera, takes the stage.
The agreement between the Torrevieja City Council and À Punt represents a significant boost for the International Habaneras Competition, bringing this cultural event to thousands of homes and consolidating its presence in the Valencian public television's programming. The broadcast will contribute to promoting Torrevieja's musical and cultural heritage, as well as reinforcing the city's image as an international benchmark for choral music.
The mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, declared that “this agreement with À Punt is fantastic news for Torrevieja and for our International Habaneras Competition. The broadcast of the final gala will allow thousands of viewers to experience firsthand the artistic quality of a competition that is unique in the world, an integral part of our city's identity, and one of the Valencian Community's leading cultural ambassadors.”
He also expressed his gratitude for "À Punt's commitment to culture and to Torrevieja. This collaboration helps us to continue promoting internationally a competition with more than seven decades of history, which brings together the best choirs in the world each year and transforms our city into the international capital of choral music for an unforgettable week."
