Torrevieja City Council promotes employment by hiring 55 unemployed people through six programs

The Torrevieja City Council continues to strengthen its commitment to active employment policies with the launch of six programs that have enabled the hiring of a total of 55 unemployed people, offering them new job and training opportunities and reinforcing, at the same time, different municipal services.

The Councillor for Employment and Local Development, Domingo Paredes, accompanied by the Deputy Mayor, Rosario Martínez Chazarra, welcomed the people who are part of these programs and wished them a period full of learning, professional growth and new opportunities.

Specifically, the EMDONA, EMCORP, ETRAME employment programs and the Municipal Employment Program “Torrevieja Ocupa-T” have been put into operation, along with the mixed employment and training programs “Vides de La Mata V” Employment Workshop and “Barco de Sal II” Workshop School.

The new hires have allowed the City Council to add staff to different areas, including Economic Development and Employment, Senior Citizens, Local Police, Education, Accounting, IT, Personnel, Training Center, Municipal Consumer Information Office, Social Services and other departments that require support to improve the provision of public services.

The professional profiles hired cover different specialties, including administrative assistants, orderlies, caretakers, lawyers, social workers, business advisors and web analysts, in addition to the management and teaching staff of the mixed programs and the working students who participate in them, combining theoretical training with paid professional experience.

The implementation of these six programs involves an investment in personnel costs exceeding 1,800,000 euros, corresponding to all the actions carried out during the years 2026 and 2027, depending on the duration of each of the programs.

The Torrevieja Ocupa-T Municipal Employment Program is fully funded by the Torrevieja City Council, reflecting its commitment to promoting employment and job placement. Meanwhile, the EMDONA, EMCORP, and ETRAME programs, the Vides de La Mata V Employment Workshop, and the Barco de Sal II Training Workshop are funded by the Valencian Regional Government, supplemented by the City Council's financial contribution for their implementation.

Domingo Paredes emphasized that "these programs represent a real opportunity for people seeking to enter or return to the labor market, as they allow them to gain professional experience, improve their qualifications, and increase their chances of finding stable employment."

The councilor also pointed out that “the City Council will continue to make a significant budgetary effort to complement the aid granted by the Valencian Regional Government and maintain its own programs such as 'Torrevieja Ocupa-T', because investing in employment is investing in people and in the improvement of public services.”

For her part, Rosario Martínez Chazarra encouraged the participants to take advantage of this opportunity, get involved in the daily operations of the City Council, and acquire knowledge and experience that will be useful for their professional future.

The Torrevieja City Council thus reaffirms its commitment to creating job opportunities, training and improving the employability of unemployed people in the municipality.
