Cala Piteras reopens for swimming after water parameters quickly normalize
New analyses confirm that the water meets the established parameters and allow the bathing area to be reopened in less than 24 hours

The City Council yesterday activated the protocol outlined in the Beach Management System as a preventative measure to ensure the safety of beachgoers. The Beaches and Environment departments appreciate the understanding of beachgoers and apologize for any inconvenience caused during the temporary closure.
The Beaches and Environment departments of the Torrevieja City Council report that Cala Piteras has been reopened for swimming today, after the results of new analyses confirmed that the water fully complies with the parameters established for recreational use.
The reopening comes less than 24 hours after the preventive closure decreed yesterday, after it was verified that the analyzed values are within the limits required by current regulations and that the area once again meets all the necessary conditions for bathing.
From the outset, the City Council preventively activated the protocol contemplated in the Beach Management System, coordinated by the Departments of Beaches and Environment, with the collaboration of the Local Police, the lifeguard service, AGAMED and the competent bodies of the Valencian Government.
The temporary closure was carried out as a precautionary measure and with the priority objective of ensuring the safety and protection of the health of residents, visitors and users of this area of the Torrevieja coastline.
Once the water parameters were known to be normal, the restrictions were immediately lifted and the reopening of Cala Piteras was announced, which is once again available for swimming as normal.
The Torrevieja City Council thanks the citizens and beach users for their cooperation and understanding regarding the preventive measures adopted and apologizes for the inconvenience caused to bathers during the closure period.
