Torrevieja puts out to tender the rehabilitation works of the CEIP Virgen del Carmen for 1,342,011 euros (VAT included)

The Local Governing Board of the Torrevieja City Council has approved this morning the contracting procedure for the rehabilitation and conditioning works of the CEIP Virgen del Carmen, an action framed in the Edificant Plan of the Generalitat Valenciana, which has a base tender budget of 1,342,011 euros (VAT included), and will allow intervention in different elements and facilities of the educational center.

The project includes the repair of the sports courts, as well as various works aimed at repairing and eliminating existing hazards in the children's playground. Cracks detected in the building will also be repaired, and overhangs and eaves will be cleaned and repaired, with the aim of improving the overall condition, safety, and preservation of the facilities.

The works also include the replacement of the asbestos cement boards located under the roof tiles, through the corresponding asbestos removal process and following the technical and safety procedures established for this type of intervention.

FINANCING THROUGH THE EDIFICANT PLAN

The project is fully funded by the Valencian Regional Government through the Edificant Plan. The delegation of authority for educational infrastructure to the Torrevieja City Council was initially approved in 2023 for €1,237,425. Subsequently, by Resolution of the Regional Minister of Education, Culture and Universities dated May 7, 2026, this amount was increased by €186,085. Thus, the total funding for the delegation amounts to €1,423,511, an agreement ratified by the City Council on April 27, 2026.

The Councillor for Education, Ricardo Recuero, highlighted that “this action will allow us to undertake a much-needed renovation of the CEIP Virgen del Carmen, working on the roofs, the sports courts, the children's playground and other elements of the building to offer the entire educational community safer, more suitable and better maintained facilities.”

Recuero pointed out that “the approval of the tender represents a new step forward in the improvement of educational infrastructure in Torrevieja and is the result of coordinated work between the City Council and the Valencian Regional Government to respond to the needs of our schools and continue improving the quality of the spaces in which our students study.”
