The Councillor for Sports, Diana Box Alonso, stated that “this is a recognition of the work that has been carried out by the Department, together with municipal technicians, clubs, organizations, and all the people who are part of the sports community in our city.” The Sports Quality Seal also reinforces Torrevieja's position as a destination for holding events and practicing sports.

The Torrevieja City Council has obtained the Sports Quality Seal, an award that recognizes the management and work carried out by the Department of Sports, headed by Diana Box Alonso, in terms of facilities, programs, services and promotion of physical and sporting activity.

The distinction is promoted by the International Institute of Excellence and Sports Certifications (IINS), through the Institute for Sports Quality, in collaboration with the Spanish Sports Association (ADESP), and certifies the quality of municipal sports policies, activities, facilities and programs.

The awarding of this seal represents recognition of the Torrevieja City Council's commitment to sport and to the continuous improvement of services provided to citizens, as well as the municipal commitment to using sporting activity as an element of health, social cohesion, tourism and economic development.

The Councillor for Sports, Diana Box Alonso, expressed her satisfaction with receiving this recognition and stated that "it is magnificent news for Torrevieja and a recognition of the work that has been carried out by the Department of Sports, together with the municipal technicians, clubs, entities and all the people who are part of the sport in our city."

Box added that “Torrevieja has significant sports infrastructure, a wide range of activities and a great capacity to organize and host competitions and events, but our goal is to continue improving and offering increasingly better facilities, services and sporting opportunities to our citizens.”

A SUPPORT FOR TORREVIEJA'S POSITIONING AS A SPORTS DESTINATION

The Sports Quality Seal is an external guarantee system aimed at local authorities, among other entities. Its purpose is to recognize quality and promote continuous improvement through evaluation and certification processes. In the case of municipalities, this recognition takes into account aspects related to public sports management, facilities and equipment, municipal programs, and the services offered to users.

The distinction aims to identify entities that maintain high management standards and develop policies that promote sports participation and the well-being of the population. According to the certification documentation, it also helps to strengthen the visibility and positioning of municipalities in the sports, tourism, and social sectors.

The certification also represents an endorsement of Torrevieja's positioning as a sports destination, both for its facilities and its capacity to host competitions, training camps, camps and sporting events of different disciplines.

COMMITMENT TO CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

The Sports Quality model includes the evaluation of facilities, services and programs, the analysis of results and the application of possible improvements, as well as establishing an annual renewal of the certification to maintain the required standards.

In this way, the Torrevieja City Council will continue working to improve the quality of its sports services, continue modernizing its facilities and consolidate a program capable of serving both grassroots sports and local clubs as well as the organization of major events.

Diana Box concluded by stating that “this certification is not a destination, but rather an incentive to continue working. We want Torrevieja to continue growing as a city of sport and for our residents to feel proud of the sports facilities, activities, and services available to them.”
