Torrevieja City Council awards the first phase of the redevelopment of the Casa Grande Business Park for more than 1.5 million euros
The Torrevieja City Council, through the Department of Urban Planning, Accessibility, and Urban Services, headed by Councillor Sandra Sánchez, has awarded the contract for the redevelopment works of Phase 1 of the Casa Grande Business Park to CHM Obras e Infraestructuras, SA, for €1,543,596 (VAT included). The planned completion time for the works is seven months from the signing of the Site Handover Report.
The Casa Grande Business Park is a vital infrastructure for the economic and productive activity of Torrevieja. This project will revitalize an area whose current infrastructure suffers from deficiencies related to accessibility, urban services, and both road and pedestrian safety.
The project has been developed in collaboration with the associates and the board of directors of the Casa Grande Business Park, taking into account the different needs raised by the companies located in this area.
The main objectives include organizing traffic and parking, improving pedestrian access, and ensuring accessible routes for people with reduced mobility. The new road layout will also prevent vehicles from parking on sidewalks, a situation that currently encroaches on pedestrian walkways, damages pavements, and hinders mobility.
STREETS INCLUDED IN THE FIRST PHASE
Phase 1 will encompass the area between Pañol Street and Rosa Mazón Avenue, including both streets in their entirety and all interior streets within this area. Specifically, work will be carried out on Obenque, Estay, Ballesstringe, Ciaboga, Gabia, Calabrote, and Pañol Streets, as well as the corresponding section of Delfina Viudes Avenue.
This first intervention is part of the overall redevelopment project for the Casa Grande Business Park and will be carried out ensuring its technical consistency with subsequent phases.
COMPLETE RENOVATION OF SIDEWALKS, ROADS AND SERVICES
The works include a complete renovation of the road infrastructure and existing urban services. As preliminary work, underground services will be located by digging up to 30 test pits, in addition to dismantling vertical signage and protecting access points and walkways to businesses during construction.
Subsequently, the necessary demolitions of curbs, pavements, prisms and manholes that are in poor condition will be carried out, along with the corresponding earthworks, excavations, leveling and compaction.
One of the main sections will be the complete paving of the sidewalks, with new curbs and accessibility improvements, as well as the milling of the current asphalt layers and the placement of new asphalt pavement on the entire surface of the roads included in this first phase.
PARKING REGULATION AND IMPROVEMENT OF ROAD SAFETY
The action will allow for a new organization of traffic and parking spaces, recovering sidewalks for pedestrian traffic and preventing vehicles from occupying these routes.
In addition, new vertical and horizontal traffic signs, speed reducers and rumble strips to limit speed will be installed, as well as the painting of the corresponding road markings on all affected roads.
The works will thus significantly improve both pedestrian safety and the internal circulation and functionality of the Casa Grande Business Park.
NEW LIGHTING AND UNDERGROUNDING OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS
The project also includes a complete overhaul of the public lighting network's conduit and the installation of new wiring. In addition, each existing light fixture will be equipped with a point-to-point remote control system, enabling more efficient management of the lighting infrastructure.
In the area of telecommunications, new underground conduits will be installed to bury the existing overhead networks, improving both the facilities and the urban landscape of the business park. The project also includes the corresponding waste management and health and safety measures to be implemented during the construction work.
With this first phase, the Torrevieja City Council is undertaking a comprehensive renovation of one of the main spaces dedicated to business activity in the municipality, improving its infrastructure, accessibility, safety, mobility and urban services and adapting it to the current needs of the companies and workers of the Casa Grande Business Park.
