The new University Headquarters in Torrevieja opens its doors to all citizens

The new University Headquarters in Torrevieja will open its doors to all citizens on September 30, October 1 and 2, with three days organized by the City Council so that anyone interested can visit and learn about the city's new university facilities.

The visits will take place between 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm and will allow visitors to tour the new building, located on Concepción Street, at the corner of Canónigo Torres, which brings together for the first time in the same space the University of Alicante (UA), the Miguel Hernández University of Elche (UMH) and the National University of Distance Education (UNED).

The new University Center was inaugurated on September 10th and was created as a space to expand and consolidate university activity in Torrevieja. Its facilities have a combined capacity for more than 430 students and are equipped to host teaching, academic, cultural, outreach, and research activities.

The building has 12 classrooms of different capacities, a Secretariat and Reception area, a meeting room, offices for management and teaching staff, academic coordination spaces, a multipurpose room and common areas for students, as well as a university agora on the roof, designed to host conferences, meetings, presentations, cultural activities and outdoor events.

OPEN DAYS FOR ALL CITIZENS

The open house events are open to the public, not just university students. During the visits, attendees will be able to explore the main areas of the building and learn about the educational programs that UA, UMH, and UNED will offer during the 2026/27 academic year.

In this way, the City Council wants to bring closer to the people of Torrevieja a building that represents a new stage for the university presence in the city and that concentrates the activity of three public universities in the heart of Torrevieja.

Academic activities will gradually begin with the different programs offered by each university. Among them, the University of Alicante has scheduled its Master's Degree in Continuing Education in Management and Administration of Urban Public Services, starting October 1st, while the new venue will also host the academic and training activities planned by UNED and UMH.

PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED FOR VISITS

Places are limited for each session, so prior registration is required. Those interested should access the form provided by the City Council, fill in their personal information, and select one of the three available dates: September 30, October 1, or October 2, all from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

The form also allows participants to indicate which aspects of the new University Headquarters they are interested in learning about, with the aim of gathering the main concerns of those participating in the conference.

With these events, citizens will have the opportunity to get to know from the inside a space destined to become the meeting point of university activity in Torrevieja, both for students and for the development of training, research, dissemination and activities open to society.
