Torrevieja hosts the presentation of the international congress "A Century of Light" dedicated to the Generation of '27

The UNED Associated Centre of Elche Pedro Salinas and the UNED Classroom of Torrevieja have organized the international congress “A Century of Light”, dedicated to one of the most outstanding stages of Spanish literature, the Generation of 27.

The official presentation of the congress will take place this Friday, October 2nd, at 8:00 PM, at the Torrevieja Music Palace, where all the details of a program that will include conferences, documentary screenings, concerts and a theatrical performance will be revealed.

The program is jointly coordinated by Francisco Escudero, director of UNED Elche, and Jesucristo Riquelme, professor in Torrevieja, and will include lectures and activities related to fundamental figures of Spanish culture such as Federico García Lorca, Pedro Salinas, Carmen Conde and María Zambrano.

During the presentation, Escudero and Riquelme will explain the various activities planned in Elche on November 19 and in Torrevieja on November 20 and 28. According to Jesucristo Riquelme, this will be the first of a series of conferences to be held in the coming months to commemorate the centenary of the Generation of '27, and will feature a distinguished panel of speakers.

The presentation will also feature, via online connection, the participation of Carlos Marichal Salinas, grandson of the poet Pedro Salinas, after whom the UNED Associated Center in Elche is named, and author of Los santos, a theatrical work that will be performed on November 28 at the Virgen del Carmen Cultural Center.

Registration for the conference sessions on November 19th and 20th is now open to the general public. Participation is free, and registration can be completed using the form provided by UNED via email or through the UNED Elche website.

Furthermore, attendees of the congress taking place in Torrevieja on the 20th will have priority in receiving invitations to the theatrical performance on November 28th. The program on the 20th will also include a performance by pianist José Luis Nieto, who will present Falla's Passion.

FRASKITO WILL PROVIDE MUSIC FOR THE PRESENTATION

Following the presentation of the program this Friday, the stage of the Palace of Music will welcome the singer, composer and performer from Elche, Fraskito, who will offer a flamenco repertoire focused on poems and works by the authors of the Generation of '27.

Francisco Rodríguez Fernández, known as Fraskito, has a long and distinguished artistic career that began in the late 1990s. A self-taught composer and musician, some of his compositions have been performed by artists such as Remedios Amaya, Guadiana, and Parrita. His works include songs like "El zarandeo," "Tiempo para amarse," "Enamorao," "Inevitable," and "Se fue," as well as his project "Vientos del pueblo," inspired by the work of Miguel Hernández.
