The Councillor for Urban Cleaning of the Torrevieja City Council, María José Ruiz, has presented the new citizen awareness campaign “The House of All”, an initiative that aims to promote civic responsibility, care for the urban environment and the correct use of municipal cleaning and waste collection services.

The campaign is based on a simple and direct idea: Torrevieja is everyone's home. Therefore, it invites residents and visitors to extend the same habits of cleanliness, order, respect, and community to public spaces that they practice daily in their own homes.

The initiative's centerpiece is a short video featuring a mother and daughter. The piece highlights the contrast between the care we take inside our homes and certain behaviors that still occur on the streets, such as littering, including cigarette butts, animal waste, and other trash left outside designated areas.

The central moment of the advertisement comes when the girl asks her mother: "If at home you teach me to take care of things, why don't you do it here, in everyone's house?", conveying to adults, from the perspective of a minor, a reflection on the consistency of our daily behaviors.

A CAMPAIGN THAT APPEALS TO REFLECTION AND CITY PRIDE

The Councillor for Urban Cleaning emphasizes that the objective of this initiative is to appeal directly to the individual and collective responsibility of citizens. “This campaign avoids reproach or fines to focus on reflection. We want each resident to ask themselves if what they do or fail to do in the street they would tolerate inside their own home. Street cleaning is not just a matter of municipal resources, but a shared commitment to coexistence,” says María José Ruiz.

The councilwoman points out that the City Council allocates human and material resources to maintain the streets and public spaces in the best possible condition on a daily basis, but emphasizes that citizen collaboration is essential to achieving a cleaner, more cared for and pleasant Torrevieja for everyone.

PROPER WASTE MANAGEMENT

The campaign also emphasizes the importance of using the various services the City Council provides to residents correctly. Each type of waste must be disposed of in the corresponding container and sorting bin. Residents are also reminded that the designated hours for depositing organic waste and other waste are from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

To prevent the abandonment of furniture, household goods and pruning waste on public roads, Torrevieja also has a free door-to-door collection service, which can be requested by calling 96 670 23 90.

Citizens also have access to the permanent ecopark and two mobile ecoparks, which allow them to deposit free of charge those materials and waste that require specific treatment.

DISSEMINATION ON SOCIAL MEDIA AND MUNICIPAL MEDIA

“The House of All” has been designed as a multi-platform campaign that will have a significant digital presence through different audiovisual pieces adapted to social networks such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube, in addition to its dissemination through municipal graphic supports.

Through this content, the aim is to reach the largest possible number of citizens and, especially, to generate reflection on small everyday behaviors that have a direct impact on the image, cleanliness and coexistence of the city.

The Department of Urban Cleaning insists that keeping Torrevieja clean is a shared responsibility and that small individual actions, repeated every day by thousands of people, can make a big difference.

“Your city is your home; make us proud of it” is the final message with which the campaign summarizes its objective: to remember that taking care of Torrevieja is, ultimately, taking care of everyone’s home.
