The City Council is strengthening the integration of its international residents through learning Spanish.
The Torrevieja City Council has developed the Spanish Courses for International Residents, in which 180 people of different nationalities have participated, facilitating the learning of the language and the integration of international residents into the daily life of the city.
The courses, organized by the Department of International Residents and taught by the Be Magic Academy, were held in October 2025 and January 2026 and consisted of 200 hours of training per course. The classes were adapted to different levels and addressed common situations so that participants could apply what they learned in their daily lives.
The program included vocabulary and practical activities related to shopping, healthcare services, administrative procedures, and social interactions. Spanish culture and customs, as well as the Torrevieja area, were also covered.
This training program addresses the reality of a city where residents from over 120 nationalities live together. Improving Spanish skills helps reduce communication barriers, fosters participants' independence, and facilitates coexistence among neighbors from diverse backgrounds.
The courses were attended by residents from Russia, Estonia, the United States, Ukraine, Poland, Sweden, Finland, Morocco, France, Iceland, the Philippines, Germany, Iran, Serbia, Italy, Brazil, the United Kingdom, Nigeria, Norway, Lithuania, Kyrgyzstan, Bulgaria, Israel, Denmark, Senegal, Hungary, and Kazakhstan, among other countries.
The initiative was supported by the Alicante Provincial Council, which contributed 1,999.76 euros through its call for subsidies for municipal programs and activities related to international residents, corresponding to the year 2026.
