The day will combine training for students in the morning and activities open to the public in the afternoon, with talks by Miguel Assal and Dr. Sara Marín.

The Councillor for Prevention and Health Promotion of the Torrevieja City Council, Rosa Cañón, together with the Director of Public Health, José Antonio García, and the technician of the Department of Public Health, Laura Lorenza, have presented the 1st Torrevieja Health Fair, which will be held next Thursday, October 29, in the International Auditorium and will bring together more than 30 stands in which professionals, entities and associations will offer information and practical activities to promote healthy habits and bring the available health resources closer to the citizens.

The initiative stems from the intersectoral health roundtables, held every four months, which bring together organizations, professionals, and resources working in this field. The Fair will translate this work into a participatory space where attendees can get their questions answered, learn about services, and acquire practical tools for taking care of themselves and those around them.

The event will combine a morning program aimed at students with an afternoon session open to the general public. The exhibition area will address topics such as nutrition, first aid, mental health, disease prevention, and the benefits of physical activity.

Stands to learn about services and healthy habits

The University Hospital of Torrevieja will participate with dedicated areas for midwives and breastfeeding, CPR training, blood donation, and health centers. It will also offer information on posture and the use of baby carriers. The Quirón Hospital will also be present at the Fair.

Orihuela Public Health will provide information on breast and colon cancer screening programs, among others, and the Cancer Association will participate. Through the College of Pharmacists, the Carlos Soler and La Sal pharmacies will address nutrition; the Vera pharmacy, acne and skin care; and the 24-hour Rodrigo pharmacy, dental hygiene.

Addiction prevention will be represented by the municipal unit for the prevention of addictive behaviors, APAEX, and Esperanza y Vida. ADIEM and SASEM will provide resources related to mental health, while ASIMEPP will offer information on fibromyalgia and pain points. ONCE and FESORD will also be present, the latter with initiatives related to deaf people and sign language.

The Red Cross will participate, providing first aid and CPR. Firefighters and Civil Protection personnel will also be present. The firefighters will conduct a demonstration on a wrecked vehicle and the rescue of injured people, giving attendees a practical look at emergency intervention.

The Royal Yacht Club of Torrevieja will showcase water sports, and the Department of Sports will propose interactive sports activities. The Conservatory of Music will present music as a healthy habit, and the CIAJ (Youth Information and Assistance Center) will participate from a youth perspective.

The program will be completed with a water tasting by AGAMED, information on visual and auditory health from the Mar and Chantal opticians, and proposals from Acciona related to recycling and cleaning.

MORNING TRAINING FOR STUDENTS

The morning program will run from 10:00 to 13:30 and is specifically designed for 3rd-year ESO students, with activities also planned for vocational healthcare students. Participants will be divided into two groups: the first will visit the stands from 10:00 to 11:00, and the second from 12:30 to 13:30.
