The sports facilities in La Mata, Cabo Cervera and Los Balcones are open to the public after a complete renovation and an investment of 640,211 euros
The Torrevieja City Council has completed the repair and refurbishment of the outdoor sports courts in La Mata, Cabo Cervera, and Los Balcones, which are now open for public use after an investment of €640,211. This project provides residents with renovated, safer, and more accessible facilities for sports and healthy leisure activities.
The works, carried out by the company Construcciones Hermanos Espín SL, have included the renovation of the La Mata multi-sports court, located in the Perfecta Rodríguez park; the Cabo Cervera sports court; and the Los Balcones multi-sports facilities, in the Reina de la Sal area.
The intervention has corrected the deterioration accumulated over time and improved the usability of these spaces. Key improvements include the renovation of the playing surfaces, the application of non-slip sports paint with regulation markings, and the replacement of damaged fences and enclosures.
In addition, deteriorated elements such as perimeter walls, paving, and bleachers have been removed, and access points have been improved to enhance accessibility. The modernization of the lighting, through the installation of LED sports floodlights, facilitates the use of the courts at night and reduces energy consumption.
The Councillor for Sports, Diana Box, highlighted that “the opening of these three facilities represents a significant improvement for the residents of La Mata, Cabo Cervera, and Los Balcones. With this investment of over €640,000, we are providing them with renovated, safer, and more accessible spaces so they can enjoy sports close to home.”
“From the Department of Sports, we continue working to address the needs of municipal facilities and bring physical activity closer to all neighborhoods. These courts are also places for community and gathering, where children, young people, and adults can share their free time and acquire healthy habits,” said Diana Box.
