City bus lines 1 and 2 will connect directly to the city center without changing at the Hospital from November 2nd.
The Torrevieja City Council's Department of Transport announces that several changes to the routes of lines 1, 2, and 8 of the urban transport system will come into effect next Monday, November 2nd . These changes will allow travel between the southern residential areas and the city center without the need to transfer at the Torrevieja University Hospital, and will also establish a new route for the connection to La Mata along the coast.
The main change will be the permanent elimination of the transfer at the Hospital for users of lines 1 and 2. Both lines will continue to stop at the hospital and will proceed to Avenida Doctor Gregorio Marañón, number 7, as the last stop on the route to the city center. This way, passengers will be able to complete their journey on the same bus.
LINE 1: DIRECT CONNECTION OF LOS ALTOS, PUNTA PRIMA AND ROCÍO DEL MAR WITH THE CITY CENTER
Line 1, which serves the Hospital, Los Altos, Punta Prima and Rocío del Mar, will extend its route to Gregorio Marañón, facilitating the journeys of residents of these areas to the city center.
The first departures from Gregorio Marañón will be at 6:45 a.m. , while those from Rocío del Mar, at the stop on Mar Rizada Street, will begin at 7:00 a.m. The last departure from both ends will be at 10:10 p.m.
LINE 2: NO TRANSFER AND RECOVERY OF THE PREVIOUS ROUTE
Line 2, which connects the Hospital with Los Balcones and Lago Jardín, will also offer a direct link to the city center, terminating at Gregorio Marañón and eliminating the need to change vehicles at the Hospital. Furthermore, this line will reinstate its previous route along Avenida de la Asunción and Avenida de Torrevieja , once again including these avenues in its itinerary.
The first departure from Los Balcones, at the Denia Avenue stop, will be at 6:45 a.m. , and from Gregorio Marañón, at 7:00 a.m. The last departures from both ends are scheduled for 10:30 p.m.
LINE 8: NEW ROUTE BETWEEN THE CITY CENTER AND LA MATA ALONG THE COAST
Line 8 will modify its route due to the redevelopment works on Paseo de Los Locos. The new route will be permanent and will remain in place once the works are completed.
Heading towards La Mata, the route includes stops on Avenida de la Purísima and the streets Goleta, Mar Báltico, and Jacinto Benavente, before continuing along Avenida Alfredo Nobel towards Cabo Cervera and La Mata. The starting point in La Mata will be located at Calle Mayor, number 59.
Heading towards the center of Torrevieja, the route includes stops on Echegaray and Finlandia streets, the Habaneras avenue, Antonio Machado street —next to the bus station— and Diego Ramírez avenue, before ending in Gregorio Marañón.
The City Council recommends that users check the routes and schedules for their line before traveling , especially during the first days of the changes, and check the stops for each direction of travel.
