Resurfacing work begins on 15,000 square meters of streets and avenues in La Mata

The Torrevieja City Council, through its Department of Urban Services, has begun resurfacing work on several streets and avenues in La Mata. The project will renew a total surface area of 14,886 square meters , improving the condition of the pavement and traffic flow on the roads included in the works.

The works began last Thursday, October 22, with the milling of the existing pavement on Perseo Street, Avenida de Inglaterra, and Adriano, Puerto Romano, and Vía Augusta Streets. Following this initial phase of removing the surface layer of pavement, the new asphalt will be laid. The project is expected to be completed this coming Friday, October 30.

The resurfacing surface is distributed as follows:

-Perseus Street: 6,886 m².

-Avenida de Inglaterra: 4,500 m².

-Adriano Street, Puerto Romano and Via Augusta: 3,500 m² in total.

The resurfacing will correct the deterioration of the pavement and provide a more uniform road surface, improving the comfort and safety of the journeys of residents and users of these roads.

This intervention in La Mata is part of the municipal contract for resurfacing and improvement of pedestrian routes and accessibility , tendered with a total budget of 6,368,670 euros (VAT included) , for the set of its two lots, corresponding to the northern and southern areas of the municipality.

The program includes resurfacing 327,529 square meters of streets and avenues within the municipality. The northern section, awarded to Eiffage Infraestructuras, SA, covers 156,256 square meters and includes work on up to 66 streets and avenues , while the southern section, awarded to Pavasal Empresa Constructora, SAU, encompasses 171,273 square meters and up to 57 roads . In addition to resurfacing, the project includes accessibility improvements at specific locations through wider sidewalks, curb ramps at intersections, and updated signage.

Under this same contract, work has already been carried out on Tomás Boj Andreu, Desiderio Rodríguez, Doctor Gregorio Marañón, and Gardenias avenues, as well as in the Mar Azul and Lo Ferrís residential areas. In the latter, the work has included resurfacing 22,289 square meters , approximately 200 linear meters of pedestrian walkways , and 40 accessibility improvements , with an investment of €480,000 .

With the works started in La Mata, the Department of Urban Services continues to advance in the renewal of the municipal road network, combining the conservation of the roads with actions aimed at facilitating mobility and improving the conditions of use of public space.
