The Councillor for Culture of Torrevieja City Council, Antonio Quesada, reports that the Governing Board of the Joaquín Chapaprieta Municipal Institute of Culture has approved the awarding of the comprehensive management contract for the Municipal Theatre, the International Music Auditorium, and the Floating Museums of Torrevieja to the company ESATUR XXI SLU , for an amount of €2,776,492 (VAT included ) for an initial term of one year. The contract includes the possibility of up to three additional one-year extensions, meaning its maximum duration could reach four years.
The contract was awarded following an open bidding process conducted under an expedited procedure, in which the company received an overall score of 98.75 out of 100. In evaluating its proposal, the Committee of Experts and technical staff highlighted the planning of the cultural program, the operational organization, and the mechanisms for marketing and monitoring the service.
This contract establishes a joint management framework for three of Torrevieja's main cultural and tourist facilities, with the aim of ensuring their operation, offering diverse programming, and improving the service provided to residents and visitors. The service combines artistic and cultural activities with the technical, administrative, and conservation tasks necessary for the use of these facilities.
STABLE PROGRAMMING AND INTEGRATED MANAGEMENT OF THE MUNICIPAL THEATRE
At the Municipal Theatre, the contract includes the development of a stable cultural program that covers different disciplines and formats, with theatre, dance, opera and music performances, as well as film screenings and the holding of conferences.
The successful bidder will assume full responsibility for the management of the spaces, administration, and technical supervision, as well as cleaning, maintenance, and security services. This organization will allow for the coordination of programming with the operational needs of the venue and customer service, fostering suitable conditions for the development of shows and activities.
The aim is to maintain a varied offering, aimed at audiences with different interests, and to facilitate the use of the Municipal Theatre as a reference space for the cultural life of the city.
MUSICAL ACTIVITY AND THE AUDITORIUM'S PROJECTION AS A CONFERENCE VENUE
The Torrevieja International Auditorium will feature a program focused on symphonic, musical and chamber music performances, as well as other events compatible with the characteristics and possibilities of the venue.
Management will also pay special attention to its capacity to host congresses, trade fairs, conventions, and professional meetings. The aim is to boost meetings and events tourism, known as the MICE segment, by leveraging the Auditorium's infrastructure to expand Torrevieja's offerings in this area.
The combination of cultural activity and professional meetings will contribute to diversifying the uses of these facilities and encouraging the arrival of audiences linked to both music and conference activity.
SPECIALIZED ATTENTION IN FLOATING MUSEUMS
At the Floating Museums, the service will ensure the regular opening and closing of the facilities, access control, ticket office management, and the provision of cultural information and guidance to visitors. These functions will be carried out by specialized staff, with guides who have advanced training in history and tourism, as well as language accreditation. This service will make the local maritime heritage more accessible to diverse audiences and facilitate its appreciation among national and international visitors.
Following the approval of the award, the formalization of the contract will mark the beginning of the new phase of service implementation. With this initiative, the Torrevieja City Council, through the Municipal Institute of Culture, is strengthening the management of its main cultural venues, linking artistic programming, the maintenance of facilities, and public services with their tourism potential and their contribution to the municipality's economic activity.
