The Councilor for Sports of the Torrevieja City Council, Diana Box, together with the president of the Torrevieja Tennis Club, Igor Vinokurov, the director of the tournament, Humberto Zuleta, and the judge-referee of the tournament, David Pérez, have presented this morning the 43 edition of the “Ciudad de Torrevieja” Tennis Open, which will take place from July 31 to August 8 at the club's facilities in Los Balcones.

The ordination of the public use of the Municipal Natural Area "Molino del Agua" carried out in recent years, and a series of additional measures adopted during this season by the Department of the Environment of the Torrevieja City Council (and which had the collaboration of the Service of Wildlife of the Conselleria de Transición Ecológica and the Provincial Coastal Service), have contributed to at least 4 couples installing their nests as of May, on a linear extension of 370 meters of the total beach / dune complex. During the first spawns a total of 9 chickens were born, while in the second spawns there have been 4 more chickens that have managed to get ahead. In short, 13 new plovers were born in the "Molino del Agua" Municipal Natural Area during 2021.

The Torrevieja University Venue opens tomorrow, Wednesday, July 14, at 9:00 am, the summer course "The Pink Lagoon of Torrevieja: potential applications of its microorganisms", which will end on Thursday, July 15.

A sailing regatta that was born with the intention of remembering the figure of Gil Rebollo, a former councilman of the Torrevieja City Council and a person closely linked to the Marina Internacional Sports Port through sailing and sport fishing, two of his great passions. Eduardo Gil died in August 2020 and from this year it is intended to honor him with this regatta that will continue throughout the years.

The total amount approved is 350,000 euros for the subsidy of sports clubs and 20,800 euros for the subsidy of sporting events and activities
