The City Council receives a grant of 317,920 euros from the Hon. Provincial Council of Alicante for maintaining the extraordinary social benefits caused by Covid-19

The Councilor for Social Welfare of the Torrevieja City Council, Tomás Ballester, reports that the Alicante Provincial Council has awarded a nominative subsidy to the City Council for social benefits for extraordinary situations caused by COVID-19, amounting to 317,920 euros.

This new subsidy from the Provincial Council is due to the maintenance of the actions that the City Council has been carrying out since the beginning of the pandemic, among which the reinforcement of the municipal staff of Social Services and residential centers if necessary. make substitutions due to prevention, contagion or the provision of new services or workforce overload.

The primary care team has also been strengthened with a total of eight social workers due to overload of it for the care of citizens, the processing of social emergency benefits to meet the basic needs of the population due to the situation derived from the crisis caused by the pandemic produced by Covid 19.

Finally, the maintenance by the Torrevieja City Council of the supply of lots of food and basic necessities for people in vulnerable situations who do not meet the minimum requirements for other aid and who require immediate attention to meet their basic needs. It should be noted that the City Council has delivered more than 23,000 lots of food and basic necessities, having invested so far more than one and a half million euros.
