THE “CIUDAD DE TORREVIEJA” RAPID PAINTING COMPETITION IS BACK AFTER A 6-YEAR STOP

Almost 60 artists, from all over Spain, participated in the twenty-third edition of the contest

Almost 60 artists from all over the Spanish geography participated, after six years without being held, in the XXIII Rapid Painting Contest "Ciudad de Torrevieja", leaving on their canvases the most emblematic places of our city. The theme in this new edition was framed in "Torrevieja and its customs".

The jury has been made up of:

  • Dionisio Gázquez. Plastic artist, professor of drawing, cultural manager, former Director of the Department of Art "Eusebio Sempere" of the Diputación de Alicante .
  • Martín Noguerol. Geometric plastic artist, cultural manager and essayist.
  • Massimo Pisani. Visual artist, interested in conceptualism, artistic theory and installations.

The winners of this twenty-third edition have been:

  • First prize: € 3,000 to José Luis Ángulo Crosa. Ubrique (Cádiz).
  • Second prize: € 2,000 to David Escarbajal Aguado. Alcoy
  • Third award. € 1000 to Alberto Márquez Ruiz. San Javier (Murcia)
  • Local artist award. € 500 to Melania Pérez Schlothman.

Starting tomorrow, Tuesday, October 26, the paintings will be exhibited in the Virgen del Carmen exhibition hall, until November 14.

Following the guidelines stipulated in the bases, the winning works will become part of the cultural heritage of the Torrevieja City Council.
