The Councilor for NGOs and Volunteers, Concha Sala, and the Councilor for the Elderly and Citizen Participation, Inmaculada Montesinos, presented today the projects that they are going to develop in these municipal areas, such as the construction of the care center for the sick with a diagnosis of Alzheimer's and neurodegenerative diseases or the conditioning of the centers for the elderly, with the budget modification for the extraordinary credit financed with Treasury remnants.
Concha Sala has highlighted the construction of the center for the care of patients diagnosed with Alzheimer's and neurodegenerative diseases with an economic endowment of €2,434,713.10. The construction of this center responds to the need that the Association of Family and Friends with Alzheimer's in Torrevieja presents when they are at the limit of their capacity. The councilor has declared that "the waiting list almost exceeds the number of users, and the forecast is, unfortunately as we all know of an increase, so the construction is a necessity to cover the needs of each and every one of the Torrevejenses ”. This center will have specialized care, as well as a residence area, hairdresser, health services, etc... to cover all the needs for centers with these characteristics.
As for subsidies for NGOs in Torrevieja, Sala has reported the increase in the item that goes from €412,647.50 to €512,647.50, making a total of €925,295. The reason is to pay the 2021 aid and convene and pay, within the current year, the 2022 annuity. The councilor has also highlighted the visits she is making to all the NGOs in the city "that carry out daily and voluntary work that is worthy of constant praise” with the aim of informing all of them of the municipal subsidy that they can request to subsidize their projects. Likewise, the councilor has highlighted the allocation for the contract for lots of food and personal hygiene products for people in vulnerable situations, which has an allocation of €1,074,321.
CONDITIONING OF THE CENTERS FOR THE THIRD AGE
For her part, the Councilor for the Elderly, Inmaculada Montesinos wanted to highlight the refurbishment of the centers for the elderly "last year we were able to carry out the works on the La Mata multi-purpose center and this year we will be able to change the furniture", commented Montesinos. With an endowment of €70,000, refurbishment actions will be carried out in the home for the Third Age of San Pascual, one of the oldest, in which its dependencies will be renovated and its classrooms updated. The total amount for the actions in the different centers for the elderly is €135,841.98.
