Presented the first edition of the "Ricardo Lafuente Aguado" musical talent development scholarships

The Councilor for Education of the City Council of Torrevieja, Ricardo Recuero, together with the mayor of Culture, Antonio Quesada, the deputy manager of AGAMED, Gemma Cruz, and the artistic directors of the musical association 3MAP, María Ortigosa, Francisco Aguado Lafuente and Ricardo Aguado Lafuente, have presented this morning the "Ricardo Lafuente Aguado" musical talent development scholarships for children and young people.

A total of 30 scholarships for the 2022/2023 school year will be available in this first call to cover the total amount of tuition, as well as a set of books for the study of musical language. The books will be on loan since, from the association, they aim to create the "Ricardo Lafuente Aguado" book bank to continue helping children and young people who want to learn music.

The deadlines to apply for these aids will begin next Wednesday, June 1, until September 20. The resolution will begin on September 21 until October 6, with October 7 being the day that the award of the scholarships will be published. The evaluation commission for the scholarships for the development of musical talent will be made up of representatives of the 3MAP musical association, of the family of Maestro Ricardo Lafuente, a representative of the AMPA of the Francisco Casanovas Professional Conservatory and a tax advisor.

Regarding the award criteria, María Ortigosa explained that the applicant's siblings who study at the conservatory will be taken into account, if it is a large family and/or single parent, if the student has a disability greater than 33%. Economic criteria will also be taken into account.

The scholarships for the development of musical talent have the support of the departments of Education and Culture, as well as the mixed water management company AGAMED, within its commitment to comply with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). In this case, in the seventh goal of the 4 ODS that advocates for an education that values cultural diversity and promotes a culture of peace and non-violence.

The 3MAP musical association aims to promote the work of Maestro Ricardo Lafuente Aguado. During the past year they carried out two concerts, one of them encompassed in the 67th International Habaneras and Polyphony Contest held in July 2021. From the association they continue to work on various projects, including the dissemination of the figure and the work of Ricardo Lafuente in the educational centers of Torrevieja.
