Torrevieja recovers the festivities of the Virgen del Carmen, which begin tomorrow Saturday with a meal for the students and teachers of Alpe and Apanee

Starting tomorrow, Saturday, July 2, the events in honor of the Virgen del Carmen, patron saint of sailors and fishermen, will begin to be held, which are once again fully recovered with the organization of the Fishermen's Guild and the Department of Fiestas del Torrevieja Town Hall. The festivities will continue until next Saturday, July 16, the Day of the Virgen del Carmen.

The script of events begins tomorrow at the Fish Market, with a day dedicated to the components of the special education centers ALPE and APANEE. The Fishermen's Association will offer a meal to the members of these two centers, having also scheduled a children's entertainment show.

Programming will resume on Saturday, July 9, at 8:00 p.m., with a solemn mass in the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish Church, in the traditional Fishermen's District. The office will be applied in suffrage of all the men and women who have dedicated their lives to the sea. Later, with the accompaniment of the band from the Torrevejense Musical Union, a Floral Offering will begin in front of the Monument to the "Man of the Sea", which will end with the singing of the Salve Marinera by the "José Hódar" Choral Mass, which will also will sing mass.

Already on Friday, July 15, once again at the Fish Market, the long-awaited Paella Contest will take place, organized by the Fishermen's Association and which will award prizes to the first three selected by the jury. The contest will be set by a charanga and all fishermen are invited to it.

On the main day of July 16, festivity of the Virgen del Carmen, at 8:00 a.m., a Musical Diana will begin and also in the morning one of the classic and traditional acts of these festivities will be celebrated, such as the CUCAÑA MARITIME, in the Fishing Port. In the afternoon, at 8:00 p.m., the Solemn Mass will take place in the Church of the Immaculate, officiated by the parish priest Manuel Martínez Rocamora and enlivened by the Choral Mass "José Hódar", directed by Miguel Guerrero. At its end, the procession will begin with the image of the Virgen del Carmen to the interior of the Fishing Port, continuing with the maritime procession. At the end of the maritime route, the Salve Marinera will be interpreted and a fireworks display will be set off, in the same port facilities. Finally the procession will resume to the Church of the Immaculate.
