Torrevieja commemorates the International Tourism Day

The Councilor for Tourism of the City Council of Torrevieja, Rosario Martínez Chazarra, informs that today, Tuesday, September 27, on the occasion of World Tourism Day, the visit of 18 students and 2 teachers from the GIAT (Guide, Information and Tourist Assistance) module of the Mare Nostrum Institute in our city.

Under the slogan "Rethinking Tourism", chosen by the World Tourism Organization, which focuses on rethinking the growth of the sector, both in terms of scope and importance, the president of the Nautical Tourism Association, Mario Puntada, will offer a talk this student about nautical tourism. Later they will visit the facilities of the Real Club Náutico de Torrevieja (RCNT).

They will end with a visit on the tourist train to the facilities of the Salinera Industry, where they will receive a talk about the history of the Salinas, the different uses of salt and its production.

In 1979, the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) proclaimed September 27 as World Tourism Day, to commemorate the anniversary of the approval of its Statutes. The declaration of this day took place in the Andalusian town of Torremolinos. The date is also considered appropriate because it coincides with the end of the peak holiday season in the Northern Hemisphere, and the beginning in the southern half.
