The new skatepark in Torrevieja will bear the name of Ignacio Echeverría, "the Héreo del skateboard"

Within the projects that the government team is developing in this mandate, is the construction of a new Skatepark responding to the needs that young people who practice this sport have transferred to the mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón.

This new space will be built on the municipal plot located on Avenida de las Cortes Valencianas and will bear the name of the well-known "skateboard hero", the young Spanish lawyer Ignacio Echeverría, who died in the London terrorist attack in June 2017. , after facing three attackers with his skateboard as the only weapon and saving the lives of several people. This was announced by the mayor last Saturday in the discussion that took place after the performance of the musical "Skate Hero" in which the parents of the young man were also present.

A skatepark or skate park is a sports facility specifically designed for skateboarding and is made up of different modules that imitate structures present on the streets that allow skaters to slide on them and perform pirouettes. Torrevieja currently has a skating area in the Parque de la Estación. Some facilities that have become small due to the increase in children and young people who practice this type of sports.
