The Councilor for Health and Pest Control of the City Council of Torrevieja, Diana Box Alonso, communicates that, after heavy rains recorded today, Friday, CTL plans to carry out the following specific treatment plan to try to avoid the massive hatching of adult mosquitoes.

Box Alonso informs that, in order to carry out larvicide treatments in the numerous foci existing in the municipality of Torrevieja in the shortest time possible, the CTL brigades present in the municipality have been reinforced, doubling the efforts in control work of larvae in the extensive floodable areas, now flooded by water, around the San Luís, El Limonar, Torreta III, Baños de Europa, Torreta Florida, and Los Balcones urbanizations, among others.

Given the proximity of these floodable salt marsh areas to the houses of Torrevieja neighbors, their intensive treatment has been prioritized using biological biocides with larvicidal action that prevent the appearance of adult mosquitoes. However, adulticide treatments will continue in areas where levels have been detected that justify it.

These areas are: San Luis, Vía Verde, El limonar, Punta de la Víbora, Torreta I, II and III, Torre almendros, Torreta Florida, El Acequión, Los Balcones and sector 25, among others. Thus, this week there will be 4 larvicide teams and 2 adulticide teams (in the morning and in the afternoon) every day from Monday to Friday. On Saturdays and Sundays, adulticides will be maintained as before.

Adult hatching is expected in about 8-10 days, so adulticide treatments will be intensified as their need is confirmed. On the other hand, we must bear in mind that on many occasions the larval foci are not located in public places, but rather on private properties (abandoned swimming pools, uncovered water containers, flower pots, etc.). For this reason, it is important that citizens collaborate as far as possible in the domestic control of possible sources of mosquitoes present in their homes
