After the success of the last two editions, which received more than three thousand applications from all EU Member States, the 2023 contest will reward fifteen exemplary initiatives that link sustainability, aesthetics and inclusivity, the three fundamental values of the New European Bauhaus.

On the occasion of the European Year of Competences, this year's edition will have a section on education and learning. For the first time, we will also be accepting applications for projects and ideas from the Western Balkans. As last year, specific prizes will be awarded to people under the age of thirty.

ADDRESSED TO

People with existing projects and ideas from young talents.

Applications of all nationalities and origins will be considered if the execution of their ideas and projects is in the EU or the Western Balkans.

CATEGORIES

The 2023 awards will honor existing projects as well as ideas from young talent in four categories:

  • reconnection with nature,
  • recovery of the sense of belonging,
  • priority given to places and people who need it most,
  • need for long-term life cycle analysis in industrial ecosystems.

In each category, candidates can choose between three parallel contest sections:

  • Section A: "Champions of the New European Bauhaus" , for existing and completed projects with clear and positive results.
  • Section B: "Rising Stars of the New European Bauhaus" , for ideas submitted by young talents aged thirty and under. Ideas can be at different stages of development, from ideas with a clear plan to the prototype level.
  • Section C: "Education Champions of the New European Bauhaus" , for initiatives that focus on education and learning. Both completed projects and initiatives with a minimum level of maturity are eligible.
AWARDS

There will be 15 prizes in total. The jury will select 12 winners (one winner for each category in each chapter). Three winners will be selected through an open public vote (one winner per chapter).

All winners will receive a monetary prize:

  • 30,000 euros for the winners of the new Bauhaus European Champions (chapter A) and the new European Bauhaus Champions of Education (chapter C),
  • 15,000 euros for the winners of the New European Bauhaus Rising Stars (chapter B).

All finalists will be invited to Brussels to take part in the award ceremony, and will benefit from a communication package provided by the Commission to support the promotion of their project.
