The mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, together with the general director of Coasts, Ports and Airports of the Generalitat, Vicente Martínez Mus, and the concessionaire of the port's leisure area, Enrique Riquelme, visited the works of the port of Torrevieja. This is the first visit made by the new general director to check their development on the ground.

Vicente Martínez has delivered to the mayor of Torrevieja the necessary authorization from the Ministry for the construction of the comprehensive reform of the Levante Dam, with which the City Council will now be able to tender and award the works, which will involve an investment of 8,500,000 euros and which also has funds from the European Union.

For his part, the mayor welcomed him and thanked him that this is the first authorization he has signed as general director of Ports, which will allow him to begin some very important and necessary works for the overall execution of the remodeling of the port. of Torrevieja and its leisure area.

The mayor has reported that the tender for these works could be in a month and a half, in case there are no resources, hoping that in the month of December they can be awarded and work can begin. The execution period is nine months and will be carried out in parallel with the work that is being carried out for the construction of the leisure area and its underground parking with almost 700 parking spaces. A parking lot that, as announced by the concessionaire company, is expected to come into operation before next summer of 2024, and the completion of the leisure center in the month of December of that same year.

The Levante Dock Repaving and Repair Project has undergone modifications with respect to the initial idea for various reasons, such as the connection with the port's actions through an elevated platform that links the Dock itself with the leisure area, the connection to the start of the dam to link with the pedestrianization of Paseo de La Libertad, as well as the renewal of the existing public lighting on the parallel road to increase, even more so, the value of one of the most representative infrastructures of the city such as the Dam I raised. In addition, the Dam will have new viewpoints towards the open sea at different points along the route.

The mayor has announced that in addition to this authorization, the Generalitat must soon authorize the execution works that the Torrevieja City Council will have to undertake and that includes the entire urban planning solution that covers the area of Paseo de La Libertad and the areas adjacent to it. .
