The structural repair works at the IES Libertas are at a good pace

The mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, accompanied by the Councilor for Education, Ricardo Recuero, and the director of the school, Julio C. Jiménez, has visited the structural repair works of IES No. 1 Libertas, which have an investment of 274,649 .73 euros (VAT included).

The works, which began in mid-September, will be completed after the Christmas holidays, so that the school community can enter the center in January 2024, operating normally.

These structural repair works at the IES Libertas are intended to solve the problems that existed in this classroom such as the lack of ventilation and the collection of rainwater, which caused the destruction of its structural pillars. In addition, the execution works include the expansion of this school module. The rapid solution of these problems is also related to a better educational offer to meet existing schooling needs.

Likewise, the actions that are being carried out also mean the peace of mind of the members of the educational community of being in a safe center, without having to be alert (more than in other centers) to the slightest seismic tremor.

Finally, it is worth remembering that the Department of Education, Culture and Sports of the Generalitat delegated to the Torrevieja City Council this action of structural repair and expansion of classrooms in execution of the provisions of Decree Law 5/2017, of October 20, 2017. Consell, which establishes the legal regime of cooperation between the Generalitat and the local administrations of the Valencian Community for the construction, expansion, adaptation, reform and equipment of public centers of the Generalitat.
