61 works from 21 Spanish provinces submit applications to participate in the IV National Amateur Theater Competition

The Councilor for Culture of the Torrevieja City Council, Antonio Quesada, reports that, once the call for submission of applications to the IV “Raúl Ferrández” National Amateur Theater Competition has closed, the good health and therefore the continuity of the same by a long time. Works from 21 provinces throughout the national panorama have been presented, such as: Madrid, Segovia, Murcia, Huesca, Barcelona, Zamora, Badajoz, Almería, Tarragona, Burgos, Valencia, Cádiz, Castellón, Ciudad Real, Alicante, Seville, Granada , La Rioja, Zaragoza, Cantabria and Toledo, with a total of 63 applications, the highest amount to date.

The process now moves to the evaluation phase, for the selection of the five works that will form the theater competition that will take place at the Virgen del Carmen Cultural Center, on the days between Tuesday, March 19 and Saturday, March 23 (both inclusive). , at 8:30 p.m., with free entry until capacity is reached, a contest in which the public itself, with its votes, awards the special public prize “Maribel Vallejos”.

It will be on Wednesday, March 27, at the Virgen del Carmen Cultural Center where the jury's decision will be made, as well as the reading of the World Theater Day manifesto and the theatrical performance by the acclaimed and well-known company Imprebìs, with its show comedy “Today we don't open.”

The Municipal Theater School, “Raúl Ferrández”, directed by Matías Antón, organizer of said contest, thanks the Municipal Institute of Culture “Joaquín Chapaprieta” for this commitment and the promotion of amateur theater year after year, as well as the Torrevieja city council for continuing to support these initiatives, so important and good for the city.
