The Agamed Social Fund allocated more than 300,000 euros of direct aid in 2023

The Infrastructure Plan executed in 2023 was presented to the board of directors, in which more than 4 million euros have been invested

AGAMED has presented to the Board of Directors, chaired by the mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, the economic figures invested last year 2023 in the Social Fund, an initiative whose main objective is to benefit vulnerable groups in the city of Torrevieja to face the bill for water supply.

During 2023, this agreement between AGAMED and the City Council established an expansion of the groups that will benefit from the Social Fund. This expansion has allowed residents, merchants and companies in the city to have access to this fund.

Specifically, the disadvantaged groups to which the Social Fund applies are people or coexistence units in a situation of social emergency; self-employed or small businesses that have been active for the last two years; seniors, retirees and pensioners; and large families. Thus, in 2023 the investment allocated to the Social Fund amounted to more than 300,000 euros, with more than 800 grants granted to the aforementioned groups. Of the total, 206,703 euros have been allocated to 686 people in a situation of social emergency; 10,657 euros to 78 large families; 96,062 euros to 50 SMEs and 8,188 euros to 87 elderly, retired or pensioners.  

It should be noted that the agreement will be extended until 2024, in order to facilitate and promote that the greatest number of users can benefit from the planned fund, in accordance with the criteria established in the agreement.

Infrastructure plan

The board of directors has also presented the accounting of the Infrastructure Plan executed in 2023, in which more than 4 million euros have been invested. This plan is made up of drinking water infrastructure plans; sewerage; renovation funds; stormwater and other infrastructure renovations.

In this way, last year a total of 499,943 euros was invested for the drinking water infrastructure plan and 609,371 euros were allocated for the sewage infrastructure plan. It is the renovation funds and the rainwater plans to which the most economic investment has been allocated: 1,417,267 euros and 1,451,206 euros, respectively.

Specifically, throughout 2023 there have been more than 30 actions carried out within the Infrastructure Plan. Among them, the 12 actions carried out for drinking water stand out, 6 in the sewage, 4 within the Renewal Fund and 8 for the Stormwater Infrastructure Plan. Among the most notable actions is the waterproofing, replacement of the network and connections of the streets of Torrevieja; Likewise, the stormwater evacuation infrastructure has also been replaced.
