The Local Government Board (LGB) of Torrevieja City Council has approved the secondary electrification project for the port area. The project has a base tender budget of €1,067,849.36 (VAT included) and a three-month construction deadline.

This project is part of a series of works the City Council is carrying out within the development of the Port of Torrevieja and surrounding areas. The starting point for this project is the completion of the primary electrification project for the port area, providing basic infrastructure for the electricity supply. All the pipelines and infrastructure necessary for the execution of the planned actions are being developed.

POWER SUPPLY FOR THE ENTIRE FAIR AREA

This project expands and adapts this infrastructure to meet the demands of the fairgrounds, ensuring a secure, efficient, and flexible supply at all times. The main need motivating this project lies in the seasonal and structural variability of the fairgrounds' layout, which changes depending on the time of year and scheduled events (winter layout, summer layout, and Easter layout, as well as other uses such as the May Fair and various events). These variations imply different energy requirements in both location and power demand, making a highly adaptable electrical grid design essential.

For all these reasons, a system of underground electrical conduits was designed, accompanied by strategic cabling that allows power to be supplied to the various stations in all possible configurations, thus optimizing operations and reducing installation times. The proposed technical solution includes a mesh network of underground conduits with strategically distributed manholes, allowing for branching and connecting according to the specific needs of the event.

Finally, it is worth noting that the system has been designed taking into account criteria of electrical safety, accessibility for maintenance, and compatibility with the infrastructure already implemented as part of the primary electrification project. This action guarantees not only coverage of current demand but also the scalability of the facility for possible future expansions or new configurations of the fairgrounds, aligning with the overall objectives of renovating and enhancing the port of Torrevieja. Now that the project has been approved by the Local Government Board, the specifications and technical specifications are being finalized for its tender in the coming days.

The new access road to the port area opens to traffic today.

On the other hand, today, Friday, the new temporary access road to the port area opens to traffic, with a two-way traffic lane connecting the port access roundabout with the access to the Levante Dike area and Ramón y Cajal Street.
