The Department of Public Lighting announces the 1st School Drawing Competition for the design of ornamental Christmas lighting elements.

Torrevieja City Council's Councilor for Public Lighting, Concha Sala, announces that the deadline for entries has opened today for the 1st School Drawing Competition for the design of Christmas ornamental lighting elements, for the 2025-2026 period. The competition aims to promote artistic creation among local schools in the design of Christmas ornamental lighting elements for the streets of Torrevieja.

The contest will be divided into two categories:

1. Centers with students with Special Educational Needs.

2. Centers with students in First and Second Year of Primary Education.

Public, state-subsidized, and private schools in the municipality of Torrevieja that offer primary education, or equivalent age levels in the case of foreign schools, accredited in accordance with current legislation, are eligible to participate.

The design features must represent an idea, a figure, a character, an emotion, or an element related to Christmas in Torrevieja. It doesn't have to be elaborate or technically perfect. What counts is the idea and the originality in expressing that figure or emotion related to the city during the Christmas season.

Registration Deadline:
The deadline for registration and submission of entries is next Monday, June 2nd. Applications for participation must be submitted by completing the standardized form for the Early Childhood Student Competition (2025), which can be obtained from the Torrevieja City Council website (https://torrevieja.sedelectronica.es/info.0).

The application for participation must contain:
-High-quality photograph of the intended drawing. The draft must be submitted in digital format, in JPG or PDF format.

-Name, surname of the person submitting the sketch and educational center.

-Affidavit from the school stating that the works are their own, completed by the school's students.

-Authorization to the Torrevieja City Council for the publication, reproduction, or distribution of all or part of the works submitted to the competition.

-Authorization from the Torrevieja City Council to exhibit the submitted works both in the final phase of the Competition in Torrevieja and in any other exhibition deemed appropriate, signed by the center's representative.

In addition to the selected drawings serving as the basis for the Christmas lighting designs in the municipality of Torrevieja, a total of six prizes will be awarded, divided as follows:

Category 1 : Centers with students with Special Educational Needs.
1. A batch valued at two hundred and fifty euros (250€) consisting of school supplies, crafts and/or reading books.
2. A batch valued at one hundred and fifty euros (150€) consisting of school supplies, crafts and/or reading books.

Category 2: Centers with students in first and second year of Primary Education.
1. A batch valued at two hundred and fifty euros (250€) consisting of school supplies, crafts and/or reading books.
2. A batch valued at one hundred and fifty euros (150€) consisting of school supplies, crafts and/or reading books.
3. A batch valued at one hundred euros (100€) consisting of school supplies, craft materials and/or reading books.
4. A batch valued at seventy-five euros (75€) consisting of school supplies, craft materials and/or reading books.
