An early skin cancer detection day is being held on Saturday at La Mata beach.

The Torrevieja City Councilor for Public Health, Rosa Cañón, the Director of Public Health at the Orihuela Health Department, José Antonio García Navarro, and Zumba teacher, Verónica Pedrosa, have presented the "Guardians of the Skin" Campaign, with an early detection day for skin cancer that will take place this coming Saturday, May 31, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at La Mata beach (Avenida de los Europeos).
This event is organized by Torrevieja City Council and the Spanish Group of Cancer Patients (GEPAC) as a prelude to World Skin Cancer Day, which will be held on June 13.
On Saturday, a tent will be set up on La Mata beach where dermatologists, led by GEPAC manager Marcos Martínez, will provide information and care to all who wish to attend, emphasizing the importance of sun protection and promoting awareness about skin cancer prevention.
The day will also be enlivened by Zumba classes led by Verónica Pedrosa and her team of trainers. Pedrosa emphasized that it's essential to bring sunscreen, water, a hat, and a desire to exercise to the beach that day.
Finally, the Councilor for Public Health indicated that early detection of cancer is very important, noting that 86% of melanomas that people suffer from can be treated and cured.
